whites dust/rain cover

tink

New member
My hunting buddy Steve got him and myself a couple of Whites rain covers. Was wondering if any of you use them? I tried putting mine on last night. Frist off you can't use it with the stand attached, see the controls or adjust them. Just wondering if I am doing something wrong or are they even worth the time to put on. With the flap on top, which I assume is how it gooes on, it seems the water would run in and stay trapped. Maybe they make more then one and I am trying to put it on the wrong machine. I have a M6 and he uses a XL Pro.

I haven't used a factory cover. They did not make one when I bought my MXT, at least not one to fit it. The best thing I have found is GLAD bowl covers. They come in assorted sizes and they have an elastic band that holds them on pretty well. If rain is threatening I take some with me in my shirt pocket. One fits the display and a larger one for the control box. You can still see and use the controls, and when done, no cleaning required, just throw them away.

Ok are you talking about the box or screen????? The box I know whites makes a weather beater cover for the xlt and dfx that you cannot use the stand on at the same time! The screen...not sure White's has made a screen cover....might be why it does not fit right! Where did you buy?

I use them regularly.....as dirt guards. They might hold up to a sprinkle....on the way to the truck ;)

I bought both a few years back for the XLT and now use them for the DFX. The covers I have fit O.K. but do cover the the press pads. As far as leaking is concerned...well last year on a NJ beach it rained for several hours and the water didn't get to the detector. My covers have a plastic type liner on the inside, maybe they have changed I don't know.

and it fits great. I used to use a plastic shopping bag and it works great! Once I set up the machine, and started hunting, I didn't need to see the panel, just listen to the signals. I still carry a bag with me just in case and comes in handy for larger trash items, ie.pop cans, etc. and then I just find the nearest garbage can and toss her in.
