Let me say, I have a CZ3d,CZ6a,CZ7a pro and a new Excel that should be here today. Last year I was hunting a school, that before the school, it was where they had the Oklahoma State Fair from 1907 to like 1954 when they built the school. They were doing a lot of dirt work south of the school, so they can build a new school. At that time I was using a Explorer ll with a 7 1/2" coil. I got a one way high tone that was in with a lot of iron. I dug down and then had to go side ways a little. At about 4" was a 1923 Merc dime standing stright up. I was digging with a screw driver, because this was in small gravel. One of my friends was using a DFX with the 9" DD hotfoot coil. My friend tried his DFX and could not get the dime. And this is with the dime showing. Another Explorer ll with the 8" coil got it and a old CZ 6a with a 8" coil could get it. Well my friend with the DFX put it up and got out his Classic ID and started finding coins, later he sold the DFX. Maybe it was the coil. I tried a DFX when they first came out, I did not like it, traded it off. I like my Fisher's, they go deep and so what if I dig a rusty nail at times, at least I am not messing anything. Here is a pic of the dime.HH..BJ

BJ,
I also tried out a DFX when they came out. It did not matter what settings I usd it had very poor depth. Of course on the DFX forum you are told that you are a dummy if you can't get good depth out of the POS.

The one guy told me he wasn't interested in what depth I was getting in a coin garden. I wonder where he finds his coins? Air tests? Enough of wasting my time over there...

Geez Bill,
I'm somewhat opinionated but that guys response was something else.
Anyone that doesn't use at least a couple different brands or models with several coils will never know what they are missing. I have only tried one DFX (when they first came out) it could have been a bad one. They would have had to make a lot of improvements in it to get it any where near what those guys are claiming.
