Whites DFX and Garrett GTI 1500

I have a question to ask? I just bought a GTI 1500 and my friend bought a whites DFX. Now I'm new to metal detecting and so his he, and we were both out one day and I noticed that My GTI 1500 even though, it cost way less was performing at the same level as his DFX was. My question is has anyone compared the two machines and had the same results as I did? or is it because we are both new at metal detecting that our skills are the same and it makes both machines look like they perform at the same level?

Detecting is 90% operator 10% machine. There is no such thing as the best machine, only the machine that is best for you. Detecting is a hobby to be enjoyed not a competition. Price has little to do with the performance of a machine. Look at the Garrett 250, a $200 machine that is the hottest selling detector on the market. The 1500 was designed for coinshooting and is about the best there is for that purpose. Your 1500 doesn't take a back seat to any detector no matter what price. Learn it well and it will reward you many times over. Good luck.
