Just brought one today. Can anyone give me some feedback how they like the machine?
Is it true that the coil is boyant? How do you fix that problem

Machine is great!

Coil sux (after my weighted PI PRO!) I have to put it down with all my 250lb body weight. SUX!!

I used clear plastic tube with sand and velcro. Very perfect!

Congrats! You just bought a monster animal. Huge! It digs all the way to China mf!!!

:goodnight:

I actually don't feel that the buoyancy is an issue. I've used my new machine now for 12-15 hrs. Initially I thought I might weight it, but now it's fine, I guess I adjusted. Found two nice rings so far and 50+ coins. My biggest problem is digging fast and deep enough on some of the holes to get to the "treasure" before the surf gets me or the hole fills up.

Aloha

State.... I hunt all the time with my DF coil and its very easy to hold down, I don't use any weight to hold it down just hold it near the S on the curved shaft... it glides thru the water with ease better than my PI PRO did.... don't listen to the you have to hold it down with all your weight thats just BS...

As to settings I run it fairly hot, it chatters a little but using a PI its normal... I set the Gain on/off at 3 o'clock and the threshold to just where you can hear it, if its windy I turn it up a tad more so I don't lose the deep whispers but pretty close to factory is a good setting.. you can swing the DF fast without worrying about losing targets...

Wire and nails have a broken tone, bottlecaps have a sound similar to big iron (longer signal) when you are hunting listen for narrow signals this is what you want to listen for...

Thank you for calling me BS, Sir!

It is very intelligent, democratic and civilized.

I shared my experience and my feeling of the machine. Maybe because of the straight shaft and extended tall-man version for a seven - footer.

But thank you for kind friendly warm words anyway.

HH!

Sorry if I offended you but if I see something that just isn't true I'm going to say something simple as that..

The thing that bugs me about the floating coil is that the bloody thing keeps bobbing around on me when I'm using both hands to sort through the contents of my scoop. Keeping the coil on the bottom is a minor problem as well but not a huge problem. I'll probably weight my coil with sand if the weight of the marine epoxy I install on the coil soon doesn't reduce this problem.
Otherwise the Surf PI DF is an excellent machine.

Cheers,

BDA:cool:
