Whites detectors

Thought I would put this comment here so to filter out any bias owners. Personaly I have never own one "Whites Detector" what are the honest reviews of these machines. They really look nice but can they keep up with todays compitition. Would love to have a color screen detector and would like to give Whites a try. So let me know what you think, I currently own a etrac, at pro, and a bounty hunter. but could make room for one more if it had something speicial the others didn't.

Aahh, what's one more. Whites are one of the big boys with a great reputation. It's your hobby... buy one if you can, and enjoy.

My first detector was the Whites IDX Pro. I later bought a used Whites MXT.

Whites is one of the best manufactures out there and excellent customer service.

I now use the Garrett Ace 350; it's a great machine.

I would higly recommend both Whites and Garretts machines. They are easy to
use and very well constructed. U can't go wrong with any of them.

Good luck

Solid build, years of proved success ........... Excellent company that is always willing to stand behind their product.

That doesn't really answer your question I know.. "BUT" So many variables come up when asking about keeping up.

In some circles as with any manufacture type The question would be ..Can the competitors keep up with Whites..

In other circles another brand would ask the same question... It's all about what you want in a detector.. There are no perfect machines.

I would suggest you read the Forums ... Visit local dealers if possible.. See if a club is in your area.. compare what the members use...

Above all........... buy what will do "what you want " in a detector. ......... Check out the VX3 / V3i they will certainly produce... The reason I mention those models..COLORED SCREENS.

After having a couple used detectors back when I started, I finally decided I wanted a new dectector. My first new was the Whites 6000 Di Pro series 2. It was nice built, looked great and loved the big analog meter. Severed me well for years, never an issue.
Now I've added several more detectors (Tesoro, Garrett, Minelab, Fisher) to include the last new detector I have is the Whites V3i w/wireless headphones.
Its a pretty advance detector, loaded with features, and the color display with all it can show is interesting to say the least.
Sometimes I just want to swing the most simplistic turn on & go (Compadre), to sometime loaded (V3i). It's whatever one wants - all I can say is I've never regretted any detector I have bought and there is something I enjoy from each and every one of them.

My first water detectot was a Whites Surfmaster 2. I used it for many years with out any trouble. It sure found my many gold and silver rings in the fresh water. I wish I would have never sold it. Now I use a Tesoro Tiger Shark. It also is a very good detector. Easy to use and finds the good stuff... KEN. Ind

Whites is the competition friend. :)

I was a die-hard Whites guy (XLT, Eagle, Spectrums, etc....) Untill I had my b*tt routinely kicked in deep turf side-by-side flagged target comparisons by a guy swinging an Explorer. Now it's getting harder to see any Whites guys anymore around here. Seems that Minelabs have sort of edged out that market in the last 10 to 15 yrs. all over here.

I love my Whites DFX and have had it a good few years, why do i own one well its well built as other have mentioned, good customer service and many other things as well but the main thing it suits my style of detecting and works well, but i also have other brands as well as i feel that no one brand or specific model does it all in the detecting scene,as a general rule most of the top brand name detector makers make a 'general' all purpose detector then they tend to make specific 'niche' detectors as well this could be for nuggett hunting or diving or what ever.

Someone recently on this forum mentioned that detectors are like a set of golf clubs, you need a putter, driver that type of thing and that i can relate to detecting as trying to use a putter to fire the golfball down to the green from the tee aint going to work is it.

Its nice to have a selection of detectors that you can use,of course that is if you can afford them, this is why the top makers have the general detector that does most things albeit not the best scenario but you can get by with it.

The one thing that i have always said you can own the most expensive detector on the planet but just by doing so does not increase your finds, that is down to the skills of the operator,a cheap detector used by a experianced detectorist will always find much more that a rookie with the most expensive detector going. Its that vital 12'' between the headphones that makes all the differance in detecting its called 'experiance and skill'

I have been die hard whites since 1978. I use an etrac now and love it. I still like whites and have used about every machine they have built since the late 1970's but i must say im having alot of fun with the etrac. My buddy and i compared his whites v3i to my etrac and ... Well he now owns a minelab :)
