is this right?, I'm trying to get the best price on mxt pro so i decided to make some calls so i did, i called a whites dealer of my town and his is selling the mxt pro for 899 $$$$ so i told him is this the best price and he said yes!!!!

what do you think?? is this right??? why do they called them dealers???? is this guy trying to abuse of me in some way?? maybe he thought i was stupid

i have called other whites dealers way far from my town and they are selling it a lot less!!!

ii know that i can buy it from another company " K " for lot less, but this dealer is in my town and i thought that i would of just pick it up!!!

[size=large]first off the price is too high. it's the trade off between you just driving over and picking it up or getting a better price by waiting for ups.
i came across two great deals in my search for mine. the first was $700.00 and the second was $725.00. those were just two of who knows how many that are out there. the dealer in my town is the same as yours. it isn't he won't sell for less. he doesn't sell enough stock to afford deals. so i go out of area for my buys. i can't worry about him making profits. my concern is saving money. i'm able to by-pass state taxes, which add lots more to the cost,.and most of the time it takes a week to arrive from everywhere u.s.a. the same dealers don't always have great prices. the deals mentioned before included a dealer taking the machine as a trade in for a differant machine. the guy got his from a raffle or drawing in his club and traded it off. the dealer was selling it for the price of the credit he gave for it. the second was a four month old machine with an attached probe and the coil i wanted and a few other goodies. just what i wanted and a great price. not being patient will cost you more for your machine.
the big "K" is the largest in the country but doesn't always have the best prices and always throws in useless junk. others can do better but ya gotta shop. hope ya get just what you want.

I was a White's dealer in the early 90's. It's hard for the local dealers to compete price wise with some of the large mail order dealers do to the discounts they receive for placing large orders with the company. At the time, the top White's machine was the Spectrum. My dealer cost was about $600. K****** was selling them for about $639 and I had to charge tax making my total more expensive then theirs (no tax). I would deal with knowledge folks, take trade ins, and offered on the spot delivery, hands on instructions and after sale support but often I had to make my profit on the accessories. It was a happy day when I got MSRP. Some Dealers don't want to "deal". They figure it's not worth their time or effort and won't budge off MSRP. I've found that those dealers with storefronts often won't discount, I guess because of their overhead. I have a couple of "dealers" close to me (Mesa, AZ) that are about the most unfriendly guys you'll come across in this business. One's a real D***, and they wonder why they don't sell more to locals. They ack as if they don't have the time to spend with new customers. I don't understand how you could sell detectors and not want to spend time discussing them with potential customers. I've been in both shops and been flabergasted at how they deal with folks walking through their door.

I supported my local Alaska dealer and paid 899.00 with no regrets. I agree, it's way harder for the little guy to compete with huge corporations.

[size=large]if you find enough gold with it then the price don't matter and it does good to go local. one oz is all it takes.

If you're uncertain about which model to get and considering another brand, I strongly encourage you to rethink that move.

The MXT pro is a superior detector, provides both a target ID reference and numeric VDI numbers. The model you mentioned only has 28 notch segment numbers to give a rough 'grouping' of targets. Also, you only have 28 steps in the discriminate range and the MXT Pro provides you with variable discrimination adjustment to 'fine tune' a good setting.

There are many other reasons why I prefer the MXT Pro over the model you mention, and the only issue you seem to have is dealer selection. All you need to do is discuss a detector purchase with other White's dealers, or even shop it from the 'K' company, if you want.

The MXT Pro's suggested retail price, with the 12' concentric coil, is $899.95, with the better coil (my opinion and the way I bought mine), the 950, it can be had for $859.95. If you don't really need the 7-Tone ID, back-light, or Ground Grab and tone function touch-pads then get the standard MXT w/950 coil for $799.95. Those are the suggested retail prices and I know many dealers will work with you. The single dealer you selected seems to be firm on the suggested retail price and that's his right.

Check around for any other White's dealers close to you and pay them a personal visit. Forget the phone call and just walk in to see them and see about doing some dealing. That, or contact other dealers who do work the price point with you.
