Whites DD 4" shooter coil

Does anyone have any information on the 4" Whites DD Shooter coil? I would like to know if it is a decent coil or if there are better ones out there that will fit a Classic IDX SL.

an excellent pick for trashy locations. They call it the 'Snooper' coil because of its small handy size, and it is labeled Blue Max 350. There was an elliptical coil, call the 'Shooter', that is the same size as that made for the M6, MXT, DFX and modern VX3 and V3i models.

The 4" 'Snooper' coil is a concentric design making it an excellent choice for hunting in trashy, iron infested sites. Why? As a rule, a concentric design is going to discriminate better than a Double-D design.

The Blue Max 'Shooter' coil (for the 6.59 kHz models like the XLT, XL Pro, Classics, etc.) is a Double-D design, just like the one for the higher-frequency models.

I have used all of the different sized White's coils on the XLT's, XL Pros, and the Classic III Plus, Classic III SL, Classic ID, Classic IDX and the IDX Pro. Of them all, I regard the bigger 950 a coil to keep on a spare lower rod for hunting more open, lower-target sites such as a beach, plowed field, or large open grassy park.

The 8" concentric coil is a good 'compromise' coil, in my personal opinion, that works well on the moderate-to-faster sweep XLT or XL Pro as a 'standard-use' coil because I feel it gets virtually the same depth as the 950, almost the same coverage, but it balances much better than the 950 and works better in moderately litter/targeted sites. The 8" also works fine on the Classic Series.

The 6

I personally prefer ed the Bullseye 5.3 coil over the 4x6 DD...I guess each has it's purpose, but I think I was more used to the concentric coils...Any of the 3 coils for smaller targets or trashy areas will serve you well...5.3 Bullseye, 4x6 shooter, or the 3.5 sniper...

HH,

I haven't used that exact coil as I don't have a detector it's compatible with. That said, I have used 4" to 6" sized coils on several different models and brands and give any of those combinations high marks for their usefulness in heavier trash. As Monte mentioned you need to modify your hunting style a bit for the best results, but many times it will be worth it.

4x6 Shooter DD - Good separation, Lousy depth
BM350 Snooper - Good Separation & Good Depth

Great inside advice for all White's users!
I've used most of the coils you have over the years as well... and you have said it all!..Great article!

Best small coil for the Eagle Spectrum between the 4" Snooper and the 4x6 Shooter? The 4" concentric round Snooper wins.

My opinion would be
4x6 Shooter DD - Better separation, Good depth
BM350 Snooper - Good Separation & Better Depth
