Whites Coinmaster V

For those of you ancient as me to remember this machine, I inherited this from my Dad, who used ONLY this machine to do all his detecting for years and years. Anyway, I have it now and have a few questions. If anyone on this forum is highly familiar with the workings and use of this machine I need some help. It appears that the "Tuning" and "Attentuator" knobs continue to turn right and left to a certain point, eventually giving some restriction when reaching a certain point. One of my problems is I dont have a user manual for THIS machine..I have one for the Coinmaster V Supreme..don't know how much change this was from the original Coinmaster V machine, but if anyone can shed light or assist me in getting this thing tuned I would appreciate any and all help. Hoping to get out with this vintage machine and see if it will still find the good stuff that it did for my Dad.

Go to White's website, www.whiteselectronics.com, support, manuals, older. You'll find a manual there. :detecting:

Did that....the only one there is for the Coinmaster V "Supreme"..not the basic machine...and its not the same machine as mine....

Is it the 'original' Coinmaster V Supreme that didn't have a discriminate mode, or a later model, such as the Coinmaster 5/D?

You have the first Coinmaster and as I recall mine had one knob to tune the threshold and the other was to adjust ground balance. Not long after this model they came out with the Coinmaster V Supreme which was not much different as I recall.

Set it for a slight threshold then raise and lower the coil and turn the other knob and when there is very little or no change in the threshold you are ground balanced. I used one for years and they operate at about 2.7KHZ and are extremely sensitive to small metal at considerable depth. Be prepared to do a lot of digging! The knobs are the type that can be continually turned but when they reach the stop simply keep turning with no change in resistance.

At this point I'd just call White's at 1-800-547-6911 or maybe better yet, Jimmy Sierra at 415-488-8131. Good luck :twodetecting:
