Whites Coinmaster Series 3 2000/D

Yes, this is a Garrets forum, but I am a Garretts fan so I thought I would ask here.

I just started MDing 2-3 months ago when I got a Ace 300 at a auction for $5. I liked MDing so much I done research and ended up buying a new Ace 250. I seen it was the best MD I could get for the money I had to spend, and I found out that was right. So as you can see I started off a Garrett fan. Also, I got a older Garrett Sea Hunter comeing my way next week from a great guy on this forum, tks Jim. But I am not going to pass up any good buys on other brands, especially if they go cheap. Got to build my arsenal like everyone else has, even if its late model MD's...hehehehe.....

The reason for this post is this Sat. mourn there is a estate auction that is going to sell a older Whites. I emailed the auctioneer and had him send me some specs. He wrote back with this info: It is a White's brand; Coinmaster Series 3 2000/D; Mfg in Sweet Home Oregon, #97386; Pat #4293816. It appears to be in very good shape and the wife says it works.

My 250 works great but I thought if I can pick it up cheap enough I would. Everyone else has a variety of MDs, so I thought I would start with vintage MD's first. What I was wondering is what a 20+yr old Whites 2000/D S3 MD is worth, if it works that is. I plan on taking some batteries to test it out.

From what I have research, somewhere between $50-100. Am I about right?

I was going to do that at first, but thought maybe someone on this forum would know. Never posted there before, mainly on this forums.

I understand your dilemma ,these forums are open to everyone and people on them are more than happy to help you with questions
of detectors related to these forums

Thre are a few White owners here. Most of us own more than one brand of detector, and more detectors than we really need. :)

Just about any detector is worth fifty bucks if it's in decent shape and works - but remember, technology has come quite a ways in the past 20 years or so and the old Whites had a control box the size of a bread box.

Bill.

i`m just following a coinmaster 3 on ebay in the UK it`s got a week to run and at about $57 already, it is a fairly big/heavy control box but i`ve done some research and it was a good coinshooting machine in it`s day but now easily outclassed by a Garrett 250 but there`s a healthy market here for nostalgia inc detectors so it`ll be interesting to see what it makes

:rofl:Tell me about it!

tks for all the input, it sold for $85. It seemed to work ok but I didn't take it outdoors to test it. So I didn't want to go past $50.
