Hi Guys, what should I expect to pay for a mint 6000 / Di Series 3

Many Thanks for your repllies.

Les.

High,
Can you answer this question :
How much does a pickup truck cost ???
Ya see what the crux is ??
Greetings
skookum

Thanks Skookum, I was hoping someone who had bought one recently would

have chimed in, the detector is as new in the foam padded box, just need some

Idea of what the going price is,

Les.

High Les,
Well, I was just pulling your leg.
I recently paid 290 Euros for my 6000 di pro sl - through ebay(this included shipping costs).
I live in Germany where availability is limited as opposed to the US.
Compared to the Classic III Plus, it`s a heavy unit to work with all day long.
If you buy it, consider also purchasing a spare battery holder

What do you think of this Skookum, 127 G B pounds, bought it for

a stable mate for my 6000 X L Pro, I love the older Whites Detectors.

High Les,
Good oldie there.
I

I am a firm believer in the bungee harness, great piece of kit for the

Senior Citizen, can swing all day using one, thanks for the tips Skookum

I shall report back with my findings once I have had a chance to use it

in the field.

Just recently bought a Whites Classic SL II in as-new condition for $50...
Craigslist is your friend... Lots of dreamers on there that think their used unit is worth mucho dollars, but read it every day and you will find a good unit at a good price...

Mine was about $400 in '83.
Love the machine- old now so got the xterra 705. Top priority was weight.
So I noticed sell prices when ever I looked thru listings.
'80's -90's $275-$325
2000-2011 mostly E-bay (excludes the $10 yard sale oddities)
Well worn- $100-$130
Mint-retuned-refurbished $165- $290

Worth every penny. Seen it in print many times past 29 yrs. "One of the best VDI's ever made".
For coins-if it locked and the depth was correct- the info was spot on 95%.

Hi GTzer, the machine looks like it has never been used, so I reckon

I got a brand new Whites 6000 / Di series 3 that has been stored

for twenty odd years,I have the C battery adaptors so that I can use

A A rechargeables and if I find it Heavy I will use my bungee harness.

I also swing the X L Pro, and also bought the A T Pro twelve months ago.

I love the old Analogue Whites, and like you say, the meters are bang on.

Will be testing it on Friday.

leslie,
great buy. After I do comparisons w my xterra 705. I'll be putting mine up for sale. The weight: when I was a young man it was just part of MDing. I didn't even care about getting the hip mount. I also was doing physical labor. At 57 the wt really affects my abilities to perform music (my current profession).
DO know that the Whites served me well for 29 yrs with no problems. Never even considered getting another detector until the weight started affecting me a few yrs back. And I'm not that fragile- just things like: I can't squeeze in a quick local session because I have a show in a few hours etc etc. I never wanted to be that careful.......
I have heard & read many positives over the yrs and the only negative was the wt.
They don't make 'em like that anymore and I doubt they ever will again. 29 yrs! Still works.

Consider trickin' it out- I don't like the hip mount. See if you can get the forearm support. Replace the AL rods with modern resin rods. Get a modern compatible coil (for the original-silicon the wire connector) and rain /dust protector.
Bungee harness- if needed.

Thanks for the tips GTzer, which modern Whites Coil would be Compatible ?

The coil in the picture is the one that came with the Detector.

I may try the X L Pro 950 coil on it, and see if it works

Got me there- never went that far. Before I slowed down I believe that I had my eye on some of those coils with the cut outs.
So- I don't know.
The 6.59ghz coil you have pictured is what i used the most. Also have the 3" coil. Slow going w that one but great separation.

I remember reading a post from Monte, and he did say that the later Whites 6.59 coils

would not work on the Blue Box Coinmasters, looks like I will have to stick with the 8"

stock coil that came with the machine.

Yes it'll work. On the mounting ear is stamped "6B" which will work on all 5000/D and 6000/D second series and up. Correction, 6.592 kHz not gHz is the operating freq.

Good Luck with your new detector,

TC-NM

Well today I hooked up the coils in the photo onto the di series 3

and did some air tests at home to see if they would work, and both

of them work very well, supries, suprise, I have a Blue Max 600

on the way from Flea B- - and I don't see any reason for that to

not work on the series 3 also, no chance of getting out tectin

because the weather has been awful, and yes, I sometimes put my

foot in my mouth, but I put it down to my age.

Glad I'm not the only one.

You probably already know this- but my favorite aspect of this MD was when I had tight time constraints and had to speed detect.

I remember so many times I would have 20-50 minutes and still come up with silver 3-6" down-and dig no trash. I know that I'll never be able to work this new MD that quick. Loved that toggle switch (seal that with some all weather grease). With that pro coil above you should be able to pinpoint exactly.

Now I've always preferred taking my time...........

Like you GTzer I love the toggle switch, and the Analogue Meter is always spot on,

if the meter says Tab, then it always is a Tab. I like lots of other guys on the Forum

often wonder why the Analogue Metered models were discontinued, I love em.

I've been retired for a few years now, so I have all the time in the world and I always

detect at a snails pace, Magic.

You gotta love this Hobby

This has been a very interesting read as I too recently was given a COINMASTER 6000/Di SERIES 3 that is in like new condition. Only problem right now is the original batt pack is weak, doesnt charge up all the way and doesnt keep the charge very long. It came in a nice plastic carrying case with a folded black strap inside, though I dont know yet how it attached?? Was going to sell this (and still might) but everything I'm reading tells me I should hang on to it. My thought was to sell it to get a Garrett ACE 350, but I need to use it a bit I guess to see if a new unit is really needed.
