Whites coin master

Well-known member
I was in a pawn shop today, They had a used whites coin master in very clean shape. They wanted $129.00 for it. I tried it out and it worked fine. I figured i can let the grandson use it when he is here. Any way I offered the broker $100.00 in cash and he took it.Do you think it was about the right price for it.I'll get a coil cover , dust cover, headphones for it and a owners manual.I hear they are so, so, machines. I ran here for 20 min after i got home in a vacant lot and came up with some clad pennys and a spoon.

Any White's machine for a hundred bucks is going to be a pretty good deal, for the most part.
The name CoinMaster isn't real helpful here though, since it has been in use since the mid to late 70's.
Either a photo (especially of the side and meter face) or the complete name off the side would be most helpful in identifying your unit.
Additionally, the color of the box is a big help, too.

b][/b] Sorry , i don't have photos. I beleave it's a newer one. 9 " spider coil, burgandy red control box. 2 nine vlot batts,Things real clean.Looked it up on line new, they sell for $ 199.99. It's not the more expencive mdls. Whites still sells them. I'd guese maybe 1-2 yrs old. Hope that helps.

$100 is a good buy.

Headphones I would get but a coil cover I wouldn't. While the coil cover itself doesn't weight very much, the 'felt weight' at the end of the rod on the coil is quit noticeable. This can be especially fatiguing for younger people, an the search coil should be operated just slightly off the ground, by about an inch or so, so a coil cover serves very little purpose. If anything, not knowing the age and size of your grandson, you might want to consider a 'peewee' lower rod, if he's short.

I got three Coinmasters to my ex-wife for her three Grandsons for Christmas but need to round up two peewee rods for her as the two younger boys are just a bit shorter. I wish I would have found a clean, as-new Coinmaster for $100 as that would have saved some change compared with tree of them at my dealer cost. It's not a detector that I would want to have in my regular-use detector battery, but they do work and can find coins, as you noted.

One of the earlier version Coinmasters, in black or blue, would not have been a good buy for a hundred bucks, but the current issue Coinmaster was. Congrats! Now, don't forget to take your grandson out detecting as often as you can.
