Whites coil stamped G inquiry

Seeker

New member
Greetings: I'm new here and I like what I see here especially White detector users. I have a question for you fellows. Whites have a stamp near the mounting bracket such as D4, D5, B4, B5, 6B, F, G, HI 8B that designates it's group of coils and helps to designate which coils fit's what Detectors.

My curiosity is the G stamped coil.
1- When did this coil first came out or is it the same as the 6B's carry over or changed part #?
2- What kHz range is this coil?
3- I'd like to know what detectors are currently using the G coil?
4- And last question is - Will it be compatible with the Eagle II with updated factory chip? The unit itself is a 6.59 kHz range. This is my main concern whether it's compatible. The coil shows 950 Blue Max Deep Scan open coil and shows PN 624-0265 (I don't know if that's a part number for the Whites sticker or for the coil itself ?)

Any help would be appreciated if you guys have access to part numbers of expert knowledge...

I found this Eagle II at a estate sale and got there late and all I got was the unit itself the lower rod and coil was sold in another lot. But I'm tripped up about this unit it's brand new and unused as far as I can tell.
For those of you who wish to decode the inspection sticker it was made in the 17Th week in 1988 the inspection sticker says 81 78 DJ and To my surprise. DJ stands for Douglas Johnson the fellow who in 1979 applied for the White's electronics inc.patent US 4293816 - A search loop for a metal detector is described having a magnetic flux feedback coil whose magnetic flux opposes that of the transpit coil to provide a balanced loop...
Certainly Mr Johnson can stand up next to Mr Foster any day... Really nice to know he checked my unit out before it left the factory

Thanks in advance...

According to Coinist Whites Tip webpages, the G coil was used on the newer units, the ones made after the 6B type coils, and are not interchangable. They might possibly work, but will not ground balance correctly and will be off on the target VDI's, and discrimination settings. You can use the coils G, HI, and 8B coils, most are known as Blue Max, some are even called Black Max. They are the 6.59 frequency, as were the earlier 6B type coils.
BM 350, BM 600, BM5.3,Bullseye 5.3, BM800, BM7.8, Royal 800, BM950, BM1500 are the coils you can use for your detector.

Greetings:
Thanks for follow up information. However I had to do a double look at the G stamped bracket information you provided - it to me reads No it's not interchangeable and Yes if it's a BM950. Of course I'm thinking BM950 stands for Blue Max 950.

I took a closer look at my coil and it is stamped G and has 9505 stamped below it into the mounting bracket and the sticker as it shows (see my photo. )The coil shows 950 Blue Max Deep Scan sticker on it - pin point and shows PN 624-0265 (I don't know if that's a part number for the Whites sticker or for the coil itself ?) 6B's seem to run in the PN 800 series and this coil is a G PN 600 series type coil.

So does this mean I can use this coil it does say Blue Max - Yes or No....

Thanks for all and more professional knowledge from you guys applied....

P.S. Since my unit was missing the upper and lower rod so if anyone has one laying around I need it - email me at ker.c@hotmail.com
Also at one time someone modified a Eagle II with a arm cup out fit clamping on to the bar below the control pad does anyone have a picture or the site showing the photo? I'd really enjoy seeing it...
