White's classic IDX

A buddy of mine has an old IDX machine he used to use. What is this machine comparable to? Does it have good abilities?

Thanks!

Comparable to? Well, that is a tough question to answer without knowing what your experience is.
The Classic ID series, ie, Classic ID, IDX and IDX Pro are older White's, single frequency 6.59 khz, mid range detectors.
They are single tone, Target ID detectors, considered capable if a little on the basic side.

Good abilities? Yes. It is in the 6-8" range on most targets one would be after. There are detectors that will beat it, but you'll pay more to get them. There are at least four coils available for it that open up a wide range of possibilities.
If you are interested in a solid instrument that is adequate across the board, the Classic IDX will do.
