is there anybody in australia that has replaced the pinpointer button with a toggle switch and if so,where did you buy the switch.what's it's brand name and was it easy to do.this is my second one and it didn't last as long as the first one.i'm not sending it back ,i intend to try and fix the little bludger my self.bye, blowfly

I'd just go to a local electronics guy and see what he'd suggest. (Been seeing your post unanswered and can't remember what the switch that people liked was?) There is probably more than one solution. I've been fortunate to have ones that haven't had the issue. Like you, I'd want to fix 'em too. (If the fix is easy, as they are decent little pointers.)

if you have a radio shack there they have a little black push button on/off switch that should work perfect for you.

hi arni161,we don't have radio shacks in australia.but we do have dick smith and tandies electronic stores here.after openning it up and looking inside at where the switch would have to go,it's got to be small.bye, bye! blowfly

Tandies is "Radio Shack"! (I just don't think of them for parts and they specialize in the stuff!) Good luck on the repair and let us know!

Fix the old one and use it as a backup. Then buy a garrett pro pointer. Night and day dif.

i have a pro pointer by garrett, fat little thing ain't it! i use a eight inch flat tip screwdriver to recover my targets,so i don't make large holes in the park grounds.i find the skinnier nozzle easier to use in smaller holes leaving less disturbed ground.if i don't find the target in the first couple of inchs with the bullseye, then if no ones nearby watching,i might employ the pro pointer.it ain't the bees knees as far as i'm concerned.it has it's limitations weak light, noisey even with tape over the speaker, detuning kinda works.i have centered the pp over the target area, detuned it and theres no target there anymore. now it might work better if i used a garden trowel to dig bigger holes so you can fit the device in the ground.cutting plugs isn't my style and grounds men here don't like it either. i have found more with the whites than that other thing.blowfly

Now its vibrate only. I gently pried the speaker off the board and thats it. Its been working great for months. You might find this a scary thing to do, but its working great so far.
