i'm thinking of replacing my bounty hunter pinpointer after wearing the tip off it with some over zealous pinpointing, with a bulls eye 11. i've heard good and bad reports about it,but i'm willing to give it a go and that's mainly because it's still in my price range.does the led light come on when it's near the target or only when you push the button? when you turn on the pinpointer have you got to hold the button down all the time, when searching, or is just it one click on and one click off? the bh is turn on,adjust sensitivity and it's ready to go. outdoor noises does interfere with the audio reception, but it cut down the recovery time for me.the bh costs $95 aud and the bulls eye $113 aud . i'm wondering which way to go as i'm not a rich man? hoping some one can advise as i'm new to this site. hh, see ya ! blowfly:detecting:

When you push the button.

Don't own a Whites but is the BH less than a year old? They covered mine under warranty as I had the same thing happen to mine.. I wore the tip completely off!! I now coat the tip with a few layers of epoxy, then take some tape and wrap the tip extending it to make a form, add a 1/4" of epoxy to the tip.. When hard, shape with a file and sandpaper to a point to penetrate the soil better,, When I notice wear I add some more epoxy.. Like mine so much I have two...To me if you can't push it in the soil its not worth a hill of beans... Only exception in the new pulse type big buck pinpointer by DetectorPro...

from a fellow :ausflag: they go all right i use one with my explorer ll all the time. i"v got some tips for ya first tip is don"t keep it in your finds bag it will get dust in the switch & stop working i fixed this by squirting crc-wd40 in the switch goes good now  2nd tip is when using the pin pointer keep the coil of your detector as far away from the hole as you can as it will make the bulls eye sound off this makes it hard to find the target  i know all about this. 3rd tip when in really bad Aussie soil it will sound off all over the place so just turn the sensitivity down a little & it"ll go fine.

thanks lazyaussie i'll try to remember those points.and by the way i asked the retailer of my bounty hunter probe about the tip wearing out.he said he's never heard of one doing that, but he sent me a replacement straight away.i'd say that's service.when i repair the old one again,i'll have three.how about that? hh blowfly see ya !

If you look closely at the tip you will see its not solid but has a plastic plug and you can see the seam line. These can wear in time and pop out or cause moisture leaks. I take a clear two part epoxy, quick setting and run a piece of tape around the shaft about 1/2 inch down and coat this area with the clear epoxy. This completely seals the plug in the end and gives more wearing surface to the shaft tip.

Not to bash the White's, but the button went on mine after only a few months, so I had it replaced, and a few months later, SAME PROBLEM. The dealer told me that almost all he sold went bad.

I took my third one, sold it on eBay, and went with the Vibraprobe 570. I may trade that one in for the new Garrett Pinpointer due to the fact that my Vibraprobe "talks" to my DFX.
