WHITES best performance detector in hi trash areas

IDX Pro would be one of them, then the MX5 would be right in there at the top for me,.... just my opinion. Both equipped with the excellent 6½" concentric coils bolted on, the 5.3 Eclipse for the MX5 and 5.3 BullsEye on the IDX Pro. Then add in a slow sweep speed to compliment the quick response and fast recovery speed of these 2 excellent instruments from White's.

In my humble opinion and in my area I will have to go with my m-6 and 5.3 coil . I have been using the the m-6 now for about 5 years and you just can’t beat it . It’s fast , hits hard on coins, and jewelry and the separation is excellent. I also own the mxt pro and that works great also . I have previously owned the idx, idx pro, dfx , MXSport, v3i, vx3, xlt, quantum, mx5. They all have their place but for simplicity , quickness, accuracy the m-6 for me. Only draw back is it can’t be used in wet black sand . It’s ok on dry sand.

I have used a lot of different Whites machines but my favorite to this point is the MX Sport. It is fast and even with the stock coil able to pick targets out of trash. They are now offering the 6 shooter coil for it and when I can afford to get my hands on one I definitely will be buying it. I think having that coil on the MX Sport will make it the best IMHO. My Treasure Pro also does really well in trash with the 6X8 SEF coil and a slow sweep speed. I am always surprised to see how much I have missed with the D2 coil when I use the 6X8.

Hi Bill, I haven't used them all but I think any of the White's detectors that can use the Eclipse 4x6 Shooter DD coil would be excellent in high trash sites. It's fantastic in trash on my DFX but especially so on my V3i.

Pescadore is right on about the MX Sport. With the stock 10" coil it amazes me how it picks dimes and quarters out of trash. With the 7"Detech it's even better.

I'm with Albert on the detector (M6) and with wasp on the coil (4x6 shooter) .

Amazing combination in trash. Absolutely my favorite!

Another HUGE advantage to the M6 in my opinion is that they have a RNB battery available for it. Love, LOVE, LOVE those batteries. Got one for my M6 and one for my Etrac. Charges to full in two hours max and lasts for at least a couple of 8 hour days!!!

MX-7
MX-5
MXT All Pro
IDX Pro
Classic ID
M-6

All of the above, in that order of personal preference, and all with their assigned 6½" Concentric coil mounted. Some might wonder why I put the M6 last of these models when it can perform similar to the MXT All Pro in the Coin & Jewelry mode and the answer is simple. The M6 lacks a Threshold-based All Metal search mode that all the others offer. All of these models, however, can work very well in a very trashy site, even one that abounds in a dense iron contamination when they are put to work against most of the competitor's models out there.

I have been thinning down a lot of the detectors I have on-hand, some being duplicates, and recently parted with two of the above and have a 3rd listed. Staying in my current detector group are two of the MX-7's that have been working well for me in trashy sites. One with a 7" DD for modestly littered places and the other with the 6½" Concentric coil for the more dense debris locations.

...the original MXT works the best. I know that machine inside and out and it can work with the best of them.

The machine that would get my vote would be the IDX Pro with the 5.3 coil on,brilliant i find for trashy roman sites.

Idx pro 5.3 coil then mxtpro with detech puck dd 5 inch coil

I haven't used all the detectors listed on this thread, However for trashy areas I can't imagine a machine that will pull coins any better than the White's XLT. I have found copper and silver coins literally in a "carpet" of trash. Even nickels can be separated from most pull-tabs by measuring the DC Phase of the object before you dig (Positive VDI - Dig / Negative VDI - Pass). Nothing gets them all...but the XLT will get a lot of them. Hope this is helpful, Tt

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a detector that would outdo the DFX in "Correlate" mode in trashy areas, like burned down cabins, etc. Combine that with the 4 x 6 coil, and it is simply amazing what it can do.
