Whites best coin shooter?

Circle C Digger

New member
I am looking to purchase a Whites detector for my wife. Since we mainly do coin shooting, what is the best detector for the job? I am not interested in the DFX (to complicated). Would an older QXT do the job? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks

They are very light and easy to use.I have one that i'm teaching my son to use.He is picking it up very fast.Dave

The most accurate meter ever made with very good depth and excellent discrimination.

The XL PRO is no longer made, but the M6 is not bad.
I like the M6.
If you can find the XL PRO GET IT.
If you want a new detctor GET THE M6 and add the 6X10 dd coil.

i really like my qxt but then i do more relic hunting than coin shooting, it gets better depth than my dads new xlt.

The best coinshooters (plural) were the discontinued  PRO SERIES, IDX PRO, XL PRO, and QXT PRO. Go figure...............

Dirtfisher.. I have a friend that gave me a 6000DI Pro coinmaster ,Pro series,,Is that one of the good old coin shooters..??

I spoke with one of the local Whites distributors in my area who also happens to be a multi-line representative. He mentioned that the M6 was a good coin shooting detector. However, if I also wanted to hunt at the beach or in iron rich areas like Oklahoma, the Whites brand was not the best choice. Is this true? I am surprised since I have read nothing but good things about Whites.

:whites: Yes Sir! That 6000 Di Pro is probably THE BEST unit ever made by Whites. It probably performs just as well as these newer models in the hands of someone who knows the machine. Happy Hunting!:detecting:

I think that your Local Dealer needs to use the machine before he comments on it. I have my M6 since February and have used it at the beach in Ocean City, MD., Farm fields, parks and woods without any ground issues. At the beach it is almost as deep as my Minelab Sov XS2A, and also very quite. It handled black sand real well and I was pulling targets in the 8 to 12 inch range without any problems in the dry and wet sand. HH

THANKS... Dirtfisher,, I have been using the XLT and with the 6000 having all of the controls on the outside it seemed kind of nice,, it just seems a little out of balance after using the XLT...

I find coins every time I go out. Whether it is for an hour or half a day. It is dead on for pennies, dimes, and quarters. You have to work with it for a while to get the discrimination right to pick out the nickels from the pull tabs. I haven't been lucky enough to find the halves or dollars.

Honestly, I don't think you could go wrong with any of these. But, I would recommend a multi-tone model like the M6 or the Prizm V. I prefer the little Prizm V. It is light. Loaded with features and very easy to use. Plus, it is $200 less than the M6. I live in Kentucky in highly mineralized soil and, I can run my Prizm V's sensitivity at max or sometimes one notch below max with no problems at all. My first find was a sterling ring where I had hunted numerous times with an Ace 250, IDX Pro, Quattro MP and GTI 1500. The Prizm picked the little ring right out, right next to a pull tab.

Thanks for all the recommendations. I just bought an XL Pro with a Bullseye 5.3 coil. I am looking forward to testing it out next weekend.

Thanks for the help.

My personal choice excluding the DFX, is the M-6. If you intend to go nugget hunting, the MXT.

M6 represents the latest model, using the MXT's digital chip as a foundation, and the engineers re-worked the software resulting in
* Quieter Operation
* Seven Tone ID System (Two Tones in the Ferrous Zone Alone).
* Visual ID exhibits better lock on characteristics on deeper targets.

Regarding the Quantum XT.... until I got my hands on one of the early MXT prototypes, the Quantum XT was my Favorite Turf Detector with exceptional Discrimination Depth.

The XL-PRO was the last of an outstanding Line Up, especially after White's introduced the Liberty DI Signal Balance Control in place of the Preset Gain Controls. The added TR Discrimination complimenting the Motion Discrimination Circuit enhances the overall performance of this Analog Detector... Both Are Keepers, even though they have recently been discontinued, their individual language is very unique to each detector.

By the Way, I still have several of each units in stock. Email me if interested.
