Whites Beach Hunter ID question

I have not had my Beach Hunter very long but it works very well in saltwater. No noises as the waves wash over the coil . depth and sensitivity is very good but does not like heavy black sand, Hot Rocks or highly mineralised ground. Very easy to use and operates at its best on saltwater beaches. A nice machine.

The BHID/300 is a great detector. I've been using it for about 7 years now.
When in fresh water and hot rocks become a problem just turn down the sensitivity and/or balance slightly negative.
When using on the beach at the wet sand level or in salt water she will opperate the best/most stable in the
all metal mode. You won't get the tone ID, but the colored lights will identify properly.

I have pretty much got the hang of the Beach Hunter ID now. Impressive machine, dead set eazy to operate, it seems to be hassle free at the beach, gets plenty of depth, runs smooth in or out of the water: It's funny realy because I have been looking at these machines for years but being a VLF unit I thought it would not be all that flash on the wet salt sand, so I never realy gave it much thought as a purchase and went for the SOV XS instead (still a truly great detector after so many years).

It was only because one came up on Ebay as a non functioning unit at a low price that I decided to finally settle my curiosity; It would give me something to fiddle with and if I got it going, well I would finally know if the BHID was any good; Well I did, it is and I intend to keep it.

All of the negative reviews that have been posted about this machine are definatly not justified, (my opinion only) mabe those who did not like the machine were trying to use it for a purpose for which it was not designed such as in heavily iron mineralised zones?

I'll keep people posted. I have not been able to balance the Beach Hunter 300 up here on The Lake Erie beaches. Sent it to Oregon, and they're going to see if its the machine. If not, will have to get a different machine. I love the DFX, know my machines pretty well. We'll see. Desmond in Buffalo

the farthest east on the lake I've ever been has been presque Isle.... Man , what a beautiful beach that is.. I'm closer to Ashtabula..

Do you use The Beach Hunter. How far of drive is it for you? I mostly did coins this year. Next year, I'm focusing only on gold, even on dry land. We'll see. Des

Lake Erie out of lake county none of my whites balance on the beach to good mxt idx modified and xlt. There is a lot of minerals and little pieces of iron ore from ships.Have not run into to many machine that do good here even some of the mine labs have a problem.I have a fisher id excell it does pretty good.I find stuff but really haven't seen anyone pull old silver or really old coins.Good stretch of beach to hunt, state park and you can only hunt on the beach and i mean don't let them see you turn the machine on at the car and walk to the beach.
