Whites 6000 di pro sl

Well-known member
I am trading for a 6000 di pro sl and was wanting to know the difference between it and the 6000 xl pro? I am primarily a coin shooter and had a Tesoro Toltec 100 that I really liked but sold when I needed some money. Any comments on the 6000 di pro sl are welcome.

From what I read her the only difference would be the down size of the
Control housing. The Toltec 100 is a good machine as I had one. A real
nickel killer...But I wouldn't trade an Xl Pro for a Toltec 100....Just my opinion though.....to each there own....

The 6000DiPro has a larger housing and weighs about a pound more than the XLPro. The 6000Di uses 4 C cells. The XLPro uses 8 AA cells. Technically, there were some electronic changes made with the smaller boxed models. From a user's standpoint, I don't think you could tell the difference in anything but physical size and weight. and the XL-Pro doesn't. I don't think there would be a performance diff. I had one, it is one dang good detector. Somebody that has had both could be more specific, I don't think you will be disappointed. It does use C batteries and weighs in more than the XL-PRO.

The electronic differences are that the XL Pro uses smaller surface mount electronics instead of the traditional style boards. Supposedly they "cleaned up" the circuitry with a few tweaks while they were at it. I own both, and prefer the XL Pro mostly because of the weight, but the XL Pro does seem to operate a little smoother. Maybe it's the placebo effect:biggrin:. But the SL still is one good machine and almost identical in operation and performance.

after having used the 6000 in many of it's variations over 30 years of
hunting i would agree with that statement!..arguably,the xl-pro in particular is one of the best coin "sniffers",and that meter is incredibly accurate even on deep coins!..the combination of pro with the 5.3 concentric coil is unbeatable in the hands of an experienced user!

i think you will find that the xl-pro IS better balanced with the 6" coil on board!..my "blackmax" is on all the time!..never take it off!
really makes the pro very pleasant to hunt with!..in my opinion, the sl is a heavier, not as well balanced detector..tendency to be box heavy!
