Whites 5900/Di Pro SL

Does anyone have any info on this detector, how well does it work and a fair price for resale. A friend has 1 he wants to sell. Thanks

This is a great metal detector and one that still can hold its own even in today's high end models. You have to ground balance it manually, but everything else is easy to use on this machine. It gets very good depth and the meter is very accurate in its multiple usages. I just bought one on eBay for $250.00, which was a good deal, I have seen them easily go for $325-$350. Just make sure it works ok.i found a ton of coins and relics with mine, then traded it in for a new model, was very sorry I did that, sold new model and bought this one back on eBay. If you can get this machine at a good price and it works ok, you will not be sorry...Gary

It's pretty much a 6000 Di Pro with manual GB instead of auto, and tracking. It works beautifully on relics and coins at a decent depth. 6" on a dime in my dirt..is about average.

Elton.........you sure about that? six inches on a dime? I could believe it if you set it on the triangle preset marks. The presets are for getting to know the machine, once you are experienced with the 5900, a person can turn up the Signal Balance (Gain) past the preset mark and fine tune the Ground Balance to a slightly positive ground response. With the 8" coil I have dug up silver dimes regularly at 8" plus.

Two things I couldn't return too with my 5900 is the swing speed needed and the weight. I sure learned a lot in the time after getting into the hobby with the inherited 5900, but once I "bought up"...I don't think I would ever buy another one unless it was for resale. Also, the GB process takes a learning curve for sure.

If you can't buy it very cheap and know you can resell it, I would pass. I still own mine but it's a dust gatherer. In my experience, the 5900 is way too dependent for a fast swing speed for deeper stuff, and I'm talking about weed whacker speed. jm2c martin

Hi,
I have a 6000 Di Pro SL, basically the same detector but with automatic ground balance.
I bought it used for little a while ago just because when it was the Whites flag ship in it

Yea..I have salty soil in my area.6 was about the max with solid Id on the analog meter depth side of the meter.

I did dig deeper coins but they were iffy on the reading ( Slight left side of the dime range.) and the depth accuracy..
