whites 5900 di pro sl tips, help needed

New member
hey all. new the forum, and just got a 5900 sl that i would like to get to know, but from the manual looks like a lot of tweaking needs to be done in order for it to be at its best. any tips appreciated. thanks

Not a lot needed..Ground balance in all metal bobbing coil up and down turning knob till sound stays the same or very little change.Go to Discriminate and have fun..It's a great machine wish I had one...
Think of the pinpoint as a radio knob..sound goes up turn it down sound goes down turn it up. Make it stay near same and you are good to go. Tr Discriminate is more for beach and a little harder to ground balance but a little practice and you will get it.You will not use that mode much mostly all metal and discriminate mode.I think if i remember right it has signal balance control..Just turn that a quarter turn up past preset mark before you ground balance and that bad boy will hunt with the best of them and better than a lot of them.SAT Mode is for prospecting..I never used that here we have no gold..Just practice the ground balance bobbing up and down and listening to the threashold remember goes up turn it down goes down turn it up till is merges...
You can get it near perfect. A friend of mine even ground balanced his in discrimination mode and he did fine with it.He claimed it was more stable grounding that way and you were good to go when it balanced out.

Elton is right on, I had the 6000 Di Pro SL, what a machine! Wish now I would have kept it, after ground balance, it's easy to use.

the 'CB' circuitry, and if you don't mind the added weight of those larger housings and 4-C cell power supply, then you have one of the best multi-purpose detectors ever made.

White's made refinements along the way, as most manufacturer's should, and the last 6000 Di Pro SL version was using the 'CB' (Composite Board) circuitry. After time, they revised their 5900 Di Pro SL series to use the same basic board as that top-end model.

There isn't really a lot to learn with this model. Matter of fact, I preferred it to the 6000 Di pro SL because I favor manual Ground Balance to an AutoTrac
