whites 4 inch search coil

Hello,
I'm new at this hobby and picked myself up a whites 6000/Di/S3. It came with two coils one was the stock coil and it came with a 4 inch coil too. I hadn't used the 4 inch coil until yesterday and found that I did like it very much. I left to go MD'ing this afternoon after work and today I couldn't tune the coil? My needle kept bouncing around too. I thought maybe it was EMF and moved but it still wouldn't work. I left and went to another park with no better luck. So my question is, is my coil just toast? It worked just fine yesterday and today nope. Thanks
Johan

h2oyo is it a snooper Blue Max 350 ???? The 5 pin connector on the coil side mite not be making a good connection???
Call Whites thy will have a ancer 4R you , Mickfin

No its a 4 inch Whites coil, it looks just like the stock coil only smaller. I only used it once and the next day it just wouldn't tune in. I was bummed as it worked really well.
Thanks
Johan

Jeff,
I didn't put in new batteries, but I was thinking of trying that also. What I did was spray some contact cleaner into both plugs and took the coil back to the park. Well it function's perfect. Thanks to everyone for the help I'm back out swinging.

The Blue Max 350 is the White's 4" coils, also called the "Snooper", is for the last models of the 6.59 kHz models. The 6000 Di/Series 3 does NOT use the Blue Max series of coils. The 4" coil for your model would have the coil cable coming out the center of the back-end, not out of the top of the coil..

Yes that is that is the coil I have, it was working and now after installing to batteries in the MD it still doesnt work. I guess I have a bad coil. That is to bad I liked the coil for the short time I got to use it.

I owned the 6000Di Series 3 factory hipmount version. Great machine. If you can manage to hipmount your unit, it will really enhance the performance. The ability to 'whip' the coil really enhances depth/discrimination abilities. As a handheld unit...its a arm/wrist killer. I think White's still has extended length cables, but you would have to jury-rig the rest of the setup.
