White's 12" coil conversion from BHID to DFX MTX

I have a new 12" spider coil that go's to the Beach Hunter 300. It's my unstanding that this is the same 12" coil for the DFX MTX. The coil has 4 wires coming out of the cable. The 4 wires are (1) - ground (2) + clear (one pair) and (3) - ground (4) + red (the other pair). The coil has the measurements of 3.3 ohms (groung to clear) and 41.4 ohms (ground to red). I need to solder those 4 wires to a connector so I can plug the connector into the DFX MXT (I don't have the connector but I believe it is a 5 pin female connector). I don't have the proper wiring to solder the 4 wires to which pins in the connector. The coil came with only 4 bare wires coming out of the cable which is meant to hardwire into the Beach Hunter 300 or possibly BHID. I want to solder a connector to the end of this cable and plug it into the DFX or MTX etc. I can find a 5 pin connector at the electronics store but I don't have the proper wiring to solder the 4 wires to the connector. I don't have a DFX or MTX to get the wiring from. I called White's and can't get an answer. winner1776

If it were mine and I really wanted to convert it to fit the DFX or MXT I would send it to a whites service center and let them covert it with the right plug. All you have to do is get hold of the one nearest you and tell them what you need. You can find out where the closes center is by going to whites web page. That way you know its done right and wont have to worry about ruining the coil or the detector. That's what I would do!:thumbup:

Thank you for your reply Bob. I have tried calling White's on more than one occasion, talking to technicians, and not getting any answer. It's frustrating and I need to sell this coil. I thought It would be easier to convert the coil because of the many DFX - MXT - M6 users. As going to a service center - I have an Extra Class Ham Radio license and have no problem with doing the mods myself. I just need the correct wiring for the connector. Tnx winner1776

The plug is a 5 pin female plug but it it's different than the five pin for ham mics etc. The white's cable has a one pin in the middle and four going around it. The ham ones have five going round like a flower. The white's type plugs are hard to find but you must be able to get them somewhere. I've looked and the one link I found they where out of stock. DIGIKEY maybe?. Another route you can take is to replace the five pin socket on the detector so it will fit ham mic 5-pin . or just hard wire it. You can try to get an broken coil on the Internet and use that plug. You can find the pin out for the wires by color on the Internet, if you do it wrong it will just beep when you plug it in. Maybe a Kind soul will post that info for you.
