ie Is it a VCO type? What sort of feel can you develop out of it? Is there subtleties in the edges of the audio that lets you know what a target is or can you use the strength of the audio to get some idea of how big a target is (ie when coupled with the depth meter)? I assume that it's detunable. The reason I ask, is that some detectors can give you some pretty good insight on a target, usually if they are less than 4 or 5 inches deep.
Although it seems to be a repackaged Prism III, it's price is pretty hard to argue with. Good to see.
Thanks.

Yes, you can come into the target, pause and re-acquire the All Metal Pinpoint to 'detune," ... it's just not as quick and easy as a push-button or the familiar White's trigger-toggle switch.

I guess "functional" would be the best description, although for the $$$ you're not going to have the same range of audio qualities that you get with an XLT or MXT, etc., etc.

How would you compare it to an F2 or F5 or an ACE 250? Does it run quiet or does it false a lot? I wish it had a larger DD coil but it still looks cool.

Thanks Monte.
Sometimes price doesn't always indicate usefulness of a feature, so it was worth asking. The pinpoint feature on the Ace is it's biggest asset as it gives off good target info via the audio fade.
I'll have to knuckle down and get to know my XLT one of these days. Again, it's the XLT's pinpoint feature that I really like about it, as you can adjust it's sensitivity. I like it around 24. I hunt modern Aussie coins. Our $1 and $2 coins hit in the same range as your zinc pennies, so telling them apart from screw caps is what I look for in a detector. At 24, they give off a different audio response.
I've been a bit concerned about the XLT's ability to pick up targets though; as pleasant as it is to swing, I've found that I've been walking over a lot that I shouldn't (using the standard coil). I've hunted directly behind it with other detectors. The XLT didn't pick up a single coin, yet I picked around $10 with another detector. Yes it was operating correctly. I made sure of it. ( I was hunting a farmers market site.) Is it that the standard coil is a poor coil?
Thanks.

If it were a decision F2 or the Ace 250 I'd go with the Ace 250.
However, I've heard some good things about the F5.

The F4 isn't heard from much these days but it's said to be
an excellent machine. You can see field tests at:
www.losttreasure.com on the F2 and the F4. I don't think they did one
for the F5.
