White 6000 DI Pro Worth Overhaul?

rebms

New member
After long layoff, my 6000 di pro "died" after a few minutes use. New batteries. NO sound, no battery, nothing.

Any ideas???

Is this unit worth cost of overhaul to use as backup?

It is a good machine...But like all technology things have improved.
If it is a cheap fix then yes do it..If several hundred dollars ?????????????? Personal call on that one.

Did you check inside the battery box area.Pull out very lighty the connection posts..It may be that simple for a repair.. Or did you check for corrosion on the battery holder connection points ??

Thanks for the reply.

Yep, did both. Eased connector prongs out and light sanded battery box connection areas.

Do you know anyone (other than factory) who troubleshoots / repairs etc?

Like you said...don't want to put much money into this 'oldie, but goody".

Are you in Va.?

n/t

I had similar problems when i owned that machine. After years of use and abuse the battery loses a good connection with the pins of the machine. I had to bend the pins up to make better contact. Also the c-cell pack springs get corroded. The other thing i noticed was the speaker jack sometimes loses a good connection. for the money it will take for a tune up. You may want to invest In a IDX pro or M6. The newer machines are fast setup, deeper finds, and 1/2 the weight and bulk.

Thanks. Will re- check springs, etc. Most likely a power problem somewhere.

Have a newer machine, but wanted a back up. You know the drill. Just didn't want to spend a lot of $$$.

Appreciate the comeback.

Shipping and repair shouldn't be that expensive? (Might be just a connection and tune-up rather than an "Overhaul".) Give Whites a call and see what they think. That machine is still a real performer.

Will call White. Just haven't finshed doing other continuity checks yet. THANKS!

Was hoping that some real White user / electro-tech junkie might be doing this kinda stuff on the side before hunting season gets here full blast.

Gott'er runnin. It was the dirty spring coils in the battery pack. Last thing that I checked. Thanks to all for feedback.

THANKS to all for feedback.
