Rick,
You neglected to let us know what detector(s) you own? Mounted on my MXT is the SunRay DX-1 in-line probe. I really enjoy it. It is very convienent to grab and I get depths between 2-3 inches. It pinpoints just like your coils thru the headphones. Another plus is that it runs off my dectector's battery pack, so I don't have to worry about carrying two battery types with me.
The only drawback is if you have multiple detectors as these probes are model specific and are not very practical for those with multiple detectors.
As for Bulleye's pinpointers - never owned one but have read some good things about them.

I traded it without ever using it. There's been times since that I wished I had it though.
From what I've read, the DX-1 that txbluesman mentions sounds like it would be a good one to have along when needed. The way it mounts and becomes part of the detector, and not having to take off headphones to use seems like a big plus.

You can click on the SunRay banner on top of this fourm page for the SunRay pinpointing probe which works though the curcuity of the MXT ( I take it you have a MXT being you posted on this page) This is the best pinpointing probe there is. It is accualy like a 1 inch coil as it will do what the main coil will other than get the depth it will. This makes it nice as you hear everything though your headphones. The other option I found that works nice too if you have other detector is the Uniprobe, but it is like the others and a all metal probe, but has the depth the other only wish they had. I have the SunRays on my detectors that SunRay makes probes for and a set of the Uniprobe headphones for those detectors SunRay dont make probes for. I tried many differnt ones and these are by far the best.
