Whio uses a Cortes?

Gonna get a Cortes tomorrow. One came through when I had my shop but before I could get a chance to take it out it sold. So this has been a long time coming and I cannot wait to get a hold of it. This time I am going to use it this season. Anyone mind sharing your thoughts? I would appreciate it very much

Cortes is a really good detector. I like using the small coil (5.75)on it. Cortes can hit coins at 7 inches with the small coil. Does a decent job identifying coins. The Sum mode helps a lot, especially for getting rid of iron. As does increasing you swing speed over suspect targets. Recovery speed is superb.

It is on hold at the moment because the sum mode switch is not activating the mode. Still on the list. May go ahead and get it though. It is in really great shape too and I do want it but I want that mode to do like it should.

Never had one, But have noticed that they hold their value. Bid on a couple on ebay, But they always got too high for Me.

I don't own a Cortes, but I do own a DeLeon. The Cortes and Deleon are very similar machines, but the Cortes has more bells and whistles.
The Deleon is one heck of a MD. Even great. The Cortes should be even better.
Happy hunting.

My Cortes identifies coins well, has good depth and is fun to use. Display could be a bit larger, but marking the coin ID areas with a colored marker helps.

This is my second Cortes, sold the first one several years ago. Recently, Purchased a used one for a good price.

One of the features I like is the All metal threshold feature, use it for deeper targets or smaller low conductive surface finds in areas ground allows. You'll be surprised how much more depth or sensitivity it has with all metal, plus visual ID.

Stopped using the Sum mode, it works but takes to much time so I don't use it anymore. Do like the ability to quickly shift from all metal to disc mode, screen is small but after a few hunts get used to the small screen.

All Metal mode is it's strongest point, for me that is.

Good luck,
Paul

The Deleon is probably the most under appreciated great MD, on the market today. Except by their owners. This was a statement made by a Tesoro rep, to me, months ago.

It performs well and goes deep in the red zone sensitivity level. It's also amazing set at very low sensitivity, like a 2 or 3, with threshold at 0.
I just don't believe the Cortes could possibly be better.
