Hey!!! everyone
You know how it is when you have to sit for a while at a garage. Well this time i remembered i had my AT pro in the trunk. So i took it out an walked over to an old cemetary an walked the outside of it . Only had to walk about 100 yards to get there the graves were dated mid 1700s an one had pasted the year of the war of 1812 so i thought the was cool. any way walked all the way around an hit nothing until ht elast 30 feet. Came up to a tree that people might sit at if they were to visit an ponder the moment witha loved one. within a 2 foot by 6 foot area i was able to find 18 coins mostly pennies an one nick, one dime the rest pennies. but i got a hit for a wheat 1944, aan was happy but then got another hit an yea i came close on this one it was a 1909 Wheat. i didnt at first want to turn iot over but i did an it was just a plain 1909 no vdb or anything . I contacted my son while there an his response was " please tell me thats a 1909 vdb but alast not to be. But i just goes to show , you can be doing anything an just take a little time out an play. As a follow up i i spent the two weekends before in kentucky an ohio an was able to get out of the hotel in enlaugher, kentucky to hit a high school an found just over $2.00 change in one small area an then on to ohio where i had the worst time in detecting by finding only two dimes an two pennies but i did find a token for columbus, ohio in the sand at a small beach. So i got to add two more states to my trails. Lots of fun
######### Sorry tried to up load pic of finds but wouldnt take it .#####

Careful in cemetaries. Some folks will get the wrong idea and immediately think grave robber. It's a tuchy subject that has been discussed here before. Old pennies usually means silver too.

I got a similar one for you. I was at the garage and hunted an easement along a highway while waiting for my truck. Found a 10K gold glass ring from 1939. Talk about dumb luck!!!! I think it had around 150 bucks worth of gold in it and my bill was around a hundred. I was pretty tickled.

Make sure photo is less than 420kb.

Cemetaries are private property and of course also moral issues and makes the hobby seen in a poor light so stay out..

I believe this post was outside the fence so would like to add certainly where they park cars or perhaps way back when parked wagons are debatebal outside the fence. I might add in days gone by main means of transportation was walking and if you look closely may see a break in the fence that leads to a path to town which is surely fair game in most instances and just might turn up up a goodie such as a seated dime which one of our clubmembers came by walking one of these paths outside the fence.

A few months ago I watched a documentary about cemetaries on Netflix and it showcased about a dozen where folks visit just because they are interesting destinations. The film stated that before some municipalities had public parks that the local cemetary was where citizens went on weekends to picnic etc... There is one such cemetary in the city I grew up in. It has ponds that are loaded with fish, gazebos with tables, public bathrooms. When I was about 10 a buddy and I went fishing there and were quickly taken into custody. I remember thinking I was going to reform school and crying my eyes out. My dad had to come get me and I was sure I was going to get the belt. My friend and I were told we could not visit the cemetary for a year. At some point he told me he used to fish there when he was a kid and it was no big deal. I would never consider treasure hunting there although I'm sure it would be a great site. I did go back there about 5 or 6 years ago with my nieces to look at the fish and found that a lot of the green space was now filled up with headstones. Still a cool place to visit. There are many old robber barons and even a US Vice President interred there. Some of the mauseleums and statues are amazing.

I guess property outside the fence could be hunted but I guarantee that in this day and age that it will offend some passerby and will eventually lead to an incident.

i agree about cemeterys just to clarify. i worked the outside where i would not disturb the sleeping. as i would not want someone walking on me either. Larry

I don't hunt cemetaries either, but it's nothing wrong with hunting around the outside perimeters as you did. Cool finds!!
