Which XT70 coil to take to the beach?

Got my Quattro for the wet sand. Which one for the dry sand? Our saltwater beaches have some black iron. I have both the standard and HF round concentrics. Got an elliptical DD on the way!

Either should work fine for coins etc. But, if you are specifically looking for small gold jewelry, the higher frequency should have the advantage. When you get the HF Elliptical DD, it will likely be the one you find yourself using. If you are dealing with black iron, you may want to take a look at some of the posts from guys using the Prospecting mode. Prospecting mode and the HF coils might be the key for your success. Hi Doug,

I was out this last weekend on my local saltwater beach with my XT-70 using the 5x10 HF coil and I am still impressed with this little coil. Remember to use Prospecting mode as much as you can handle it. I found that the Prospecting mode will almost always out-detect the All Metal mode. There were plenty of times when I received a positive Prospecting ping that I had to dig more than a few inches before the All Metal would detect anything. It is that sensitive. I want to try the circular 10" HF sometime to see how it compares but I am very impressed with the depth and sensitivity of the 5x10 HF coil.

cheers...Keith
