Which will get smaller gold, GMT with the small coil or a GP/GPX with a small 6" round coil?

Which will get the smaller gold? Lets say in moderate mineralisation (for Australia). I'm just curious, as I've used and owned GP's and a GPX (and know they do well on small gold) but never used a 6" coil with it. Now I own a GMT (for various other reasons), but I don't have a nugget small enough to test and my scales only go by .1 increments.

The GMT will get the smallest although a GPX4500 with the 6 incher running sens xtra is a pretty deadly small gold getter as well. Using super sensitive VLF,s I have found squillions of tiny bits that look more like I have panned them instead of detected them. One spot with a GMT the gold was so small and abundant that I got my wife to tag along with a bucket and we would just scoop up the signal sounding dirt into the bucket. We didn't bother wasting time locating each bit till we got home and panned it all off. Electronic panning. When I sold the gold to pay some bills the buyer reckoned I was pulling his leg in that I had detected it all.

Wow, that's small. I haven't had a chance to go out yet with mine, I only just got it and have to wait untill the heat dies down. One thing I have done is break up one of my species and tested the tiny flakes that were on those broken up pieces and wow, it'll pick them up even inside my room! Of course in ground, it's a different story but if the quartz is above ground it'll have great advantages.

Btw, when I recieved my detector, there were articles that you wrote that came in the package, interesting read.

It's good to know that there are types of gold that the GPX won't be able to pick up, I will also mainly be searching quiet ground.

They are a good sensitive machine the GMT. The boss recently had a photo sent to him from a guy who found some nice species, around an oz of gold all up, with an old Goldmaster. Find where the rich reefs were near you and hit them with the GMT. Great specie machine, good luck.

I was doing the same with my MXT in NV. The nuggets (pickers) were so small that I was finding bigger ones drywashing......:crylol:
