Which Whites, Beach Hunter ID or the DFX?

Hello ,
I'm new to detecting and want to upgrade from my present Bounty Hunter to a Whites.
I do mostly beach hunting and some detecting around old houses. Which would be a better detector for me around the saltwater beaches?
Thanks, obxfishnuts

the beach hunter is water proof...if you plan to hunt beaches get the Beach hunter..I use mine on land all the time fields, parks, house lots. I was down to the outer banks around thanksgiving hunted there..lovely beach!! you can also hunt in the water with beach hunter

Thanks Beach Hunter,
I did not know what the difference was between the two other thsn the one is waterproof and a couple hundred bucks less expensive for me.

The ID is cheaper and waterproof but does not have the adaptability of the DFX.
I have beach areas where the I.D. just won't work due to radio interference which I think is down to nearby military. With the ability to adjust just about everything on the DFX you can get round the problem.
The ID will always be at a disadvantage compared to the DFX but take your DFX into the surf and fall over and you'll regret not getting a waterproof machine. Horses for courses.

Good advice Brian. I have both of them and seldom use the Beach Hunter ID just because I don't hunt beaches much. If you are going to hunt in the water, I'd say the Beach Hunter is the way to go. All it takes is one stumble. If you are not planning to go in the water, the DFX is one of the most versatile detectors on the market. On land, the Beach Hunter will give you good depth but no adjustable discrimination, be prepared to dig a lot.

Thank ya'll for the info, heck I'm already diggin alot so that won't matter to me. I reckon I'll get the BeachHunter and then figure out later on if I want a used DFX sometime on down the road.
Thanks again for your input, I really appreciate the help.
