Which waterproof headphones have the best sound on the Equinox?

Hard to beat the "L.S. Pelso's" for the "best sound",they have actual speakers rather than piezo's, great for wading use. For underwater use, or if you just want piezo types, the GG have a better range of response than the Koss yellow's, especially louder in the nickels/gold tone range and silver high range. Have not tried the Predator ones yet.

For those who have tried these headphones, would the Patriot underwater headphones be loud enough for someone who is a bit hard of hearing?

Pretty sure they are running speakers so yes. Don’t leave out Tony Eisenhower either...he makes a very good pair of phones.

oops, just noticed i typed predators earlier, .... meant Patriots, would like to try those also to see how they compare to the others I've tried here

I have the Gray Ghost Amphibians for it and the yellow Minelabs, and am ordering a pair of *&^%$#

I started with the Minelabs and my big complaint with those were that they just don't cancel out enough surrounding noise. Volume wise, they were tolerable...a little bit low on the lower tones but you could get by with them. If I was by myself with not a lot of noise out side around me, they were fine. If there were people playing at the beach or wind noise, it made it tough to hear the signals some times.

I recently (just this week) bought a pair of the Gray Ghost Amphibians for it. These are the opposite of the Minelabs. When on the ears, they are like wearing hearing protection muffs...very nice in that aspect. However...the volume is lacking A LOT on those headphones. With the detector volume at 25 and the headset volume at 10 (max)...these are lower volume than the yellow Minelabs. I put 'em on the Db sound meter and they come in a full 20 Db lower than the yellow Minelabs on low tones. No es bueno!! Very disappointed in those.

So I was going to give those Patriot headphones a shot that were mentioned in this thread. I went to the website link given but could not get past the checkout option there. I tried it several different ways and it just wouldn't go...I kinda viewed that as a sign so I thought I'd give Tony's a shot. Emailed him and am waiting on him to send an invoice for the phones. I would have gotten a pair of the LS Pelso's, as I have a pair of those for another detector and they are extremely loud and fit well. But Kellyco has been out of stock on them for a while now.

Daniel..... some of us water hunters who deal with a lot of outside noise upgrade the muffs to aircraft muffs..... you can see the kids mouth moving but dont have to listen to them lol. A good bid of that noise comes from the drain holes.
