Which Tesoro would you keep?

A friend of mine has offered to sell me both of his Tesoro metal detectors as he hadn't used them in several years since he quit diving. . One is a Tiger Shark and the other one is a Stingray II. He was smart enough not to leave batteries in them and they both work great. I tried the Tiger Shark out yesterday and found some clad coins. The Tiger Shark has a learning curve that I have not began to learn yet. I just picked the Stringray II up today and It seems to be nearly identical to the Tiger Shark control-wise. I have used Garrett's for years and just started getting back in the hobby since I retired. Now to questions to anyone who knows. I dug some coins with the Tiger Shark yesterday that were about 10 inches deep. Would both detectors have about the same range? Which is the most desirable of the two? Before these two became available I was really I wanting a Garrett AT Gold but what reading I have done on the Tiger Shark compared it to the Garrett AT Pro. I plan on re-selling one of these but will keep the other as either my main detector or my wives. Thanks to everyone for their response.

The tiger shark has the famous Bandido circuitry-which would be enough for me to decide! Don't know about the Stingray- but if it's pulse induction, you're limited to the beaches. OK. I just looked it up. The Stingray is a VLF/tr older style detector. I would opt for the Tiger Shark!

Both the Stingray II and Tiger Shark have a good reputation in freshwater hunting when it comes to finding small gold targets. When the Tiger first came out some still preferred the Stingray II over the Tiger Shark because of their own personal preferences...I think mainly because of audio differences.? Overall I think the depth range of both detectors will be around the same so just pick the one you "click" with and have confidence in. I own a Tiger Shark plus the original Stingray and have always been pleased with their performance hunting freshwater sites around SE Texas

Please send me a pm if you decide to part with your Stingray 2. Regards

I took the Stingray II out today for the first time. Pretty impressive I thought. Dug some clad that was up to 8" deep and lots of trash. I had the discriminator set on 3 and I knew I would have to dig trash. I was impressed that it would hit on really small parts of nails not much larger than a BB. To me it seems to do about the same as the Tiger Shark. I would be satisfied with either one. The Stringray II is quieter than the Tiger Shark. Just my two cents worth.

Well my Tejon is still slightly superior to my level of skill intelligence, so I'll probably always have it.
