Which small coil??

Nauti

Well-known member
Looking at both sun rays 6" coil or the 5" from detech.Anybody used either of these coils? Thanks.

i have the 5 inch detech coil....i was not to impressed with it at first...... however ,ive been having much more success with it lately.....i have best results when using it at old home sites in farm fields where there is too much fine debris and nails for the 10 inch coil to latch on to targets....for best results i set disc-0,volume--2oclockish,iron mask -off,in pinpoint mode....i was able to find about a dozen coins at one site that i had swung the 10 inch and 15 inch wot over many many times prior but got little or no signal with.....most coins were only 1 - 3 inches deep deep but the larger coils couldnt see them.....good luck....

I have the Sunray S-5. It is 5.5" in diameter. I'm impressed with it's depth. In air tests it gets about 7 or 8", which is as deep as my Whites would get using a 9.5" coil. So far I've only used it a few times but did manage a rosie that was about 6 or 7" deep and was in between two shallower pull tabs. It was also right up near the base of a tree. This was a pounded out park and I'm sure larger coils couldn't see that dime for people. I plan to use it more in iron or trash infested areas. It also allows you to get closer to fences or metal posts, which is good for a fence at an old site or hunting playgrounds for rings.

I have both the Sunray 5.5" & the detect 6" both are great. I don't seem to notice difference. Both are very deep & sensitive with great separation. I now use the detect exclusively. Both have found a lot of rings & jewelry as well as coins as deep as 8-9''. I don't think you can go wrong with which ever you prefer. Good luck!
