ive been using an alum. scoop a long time, with a stainless steel duck bill. i only hunt in fresh water lakes. some have medium heavy clay bottoms with shell an rock. ive had my scoop welded several times, an the bill is down to the nub, so its time to get another scoop. so the question is, which would be the best s.s. scoop for around 150.00?

A SS scoop might be too heavy from what you're used to.

Why not try a new SS lip with a pointed digging edge suitable for the clay bottom ?

I use a bolted on SS lip on my aluminum scoop. When I stand on the back of the bucket it penetrates pretty well.

That is pretty much my digging area. This is a 6.5" Stealth scoop that cuts right through clay and solid oyster shell. Tried the 8"...just too big for me. Removed the wooden handle and had a custom handle made at a boat shop.
