Which PI is best for...

I want to pack a small PI along as a 3rd machine, on my Caribbean travels for when black sand beaches are encountered. I've used the Infinium with 14 mono and like it, but prefer to pack a smaller set-up that may or may not get used on trips.

My question is... of the non-ground balancing PIs, which works best in black sand- The Whites PI Pro, Tesoro Sand Shark or Garrett Sea Hunter? I'm leaning toward the Whites, but hear the newer Dual Field has problems in black sand? I suspect the Whites would be more sensitive to smaller gold, but hear lots good about the Sea Hunter and Sand Shark. Perhaps performance wise in black sand it's a draw? Thanks for all advice.

If you don't want to pack the Infinium then you would not want to pack the Sea Hunter, its the same size. If you use the stock shaft on the Infinium it breaks down fairly small.

Id say the SS is the smallest over all....but id also say you r sacraficing performance and coil swapping since the SS about 22 uS and the finny is 10uS. Unlike a VLF coil size doesnt affect depth or sensitivity....do consider an 8" momo coil.

Yes they're the same size and when I pack the Infinium I pack everything else with it- all the coils, shafts... I just want to have a PI along in case. A good black sand beach can produce several pieces of gold! Unfortunately my CTX and Excaliburs are of little use in the black! One problem is my bag fills up to the 50lb airlines max quickly and also when I travel with 4 to 6 other treasure hunters, we limit to 1 bag each, or our luggage won't even fit in our rental van!

I'm not overly concerned with finding small gold or I'd look at the ATX. Perhaps the SS with higher delay might be more stable in salt black sand?

How did your trip go, what did you end up taking?

I have used the White's DF and the Infinium, have not used the Tesoro SS. I would have gone with either the White's PI Pro or the Tesoro, no way the Infinium.
