Which one to keep?? BHID w/9.5 or Tesoro Stingray 2 w/ 8/10.5 coils???

Just moved to MI on the great lakes. I'd like to know what the lake hunters are using. No saltwater here, just fresh! Can't get out to test em it's like - 3 today! I figure there's some hot rocks/ ore here in the water. Also I'm using a p-handle stainless steel scoop with the rounded nose, will it work up here?? Also I wear a wetsuit, no waders. Thanks!!!!

You have a lot more snow than we do in Pennsylvania! WOW!

I'd hang on to them both and let some time in the water with each tell which worked the conditions better. Of course the water can't be covered in ice ... saw an article before Christmas that Lake Erie was expected to freeze over entirely any day. First time in several years and one of the earliest freeze-overs on record. Big change from Alabama for you!

You might want to consider buying a PI, as that's what I use at the freshwater lakes where I live. I just use it in the deeper water where the junk targets are less and dig most of the deep whispers...

i think the Stingray is a TR? the BHID would prob be better than the TR.but i like the Excal ll or Tiger Shark over all else!

I'll just have to run em and see which one works the best. Just FYI the Stingray is TR or VLF it's just like a Tiger without the "salt" mode. John You are hard core, I used a PI down south, in clean areas work wonderfully, but in iron they are a backbreaker! The BHID in am mode acts like a pi! deep, deep, deep! TKS

the TR's iv had are non motion detectors ..where the VLF's are motion detectors. and the BHID is dual freq (2). the BHID will work better in salt water than the TS or Stingray..but the BHID i had i didnt like because it false ID a lot.i bought an Excal ll and never looked back!

The SR2 is a motion TR w/disc it picks up the smallest little bits I've ever dug w/tesoro not big on depth though. (in TR mode) Really likes clasps on small chains. I'll concede that the BHID w/9.5 in disc mode is nothing to get excited about. But super tuned in AM mode it does as good as a PI. Small target/depth monster.

My opinion is ship the Stingray all the way to Texas... Get it away from you... PS I'll send my address in a PM....LOL I love my Stingray I and will never part with it for fresh water.
