To all you that are committed to the Tesoro's, which model is going to give me the best depth for relic hunting. There has to be a best! I really appreciate any help that could be passed my way. Thanks

I had the Vaquero and Tejon. I only have the Tejon now. TEJON hands down!

You can't go wrong with either the Tejon or Vaquero. Both are great relic hunters. In my book after doing all the pluses and minuses they come out about equal.

The Tejon hands down.

Tejon!

The Tesoro website will give the answer. They specifically designed the Tejon for relic hunting.

make sure you select the right search coils for the type of site you're hunting.

Trying to get the "BEST DEPTH" is really going to be dependent upon the size and shape of the desired targets you are after, the ground mineral make-up, the presence of (or lack of) any nearby metal target(s) that might mask a desired find, the settings used, the search coil presentation, .... and that brings us to making sure the best search coil is mounted on the working end of the detector.

Now, let me also be clear in my statement about the T

Here's an issue I didn;t see anyone bring up, which is the basic question anyone recommending a particular detector should be bringing up: What's your definition of "deep", and are you planning on hunting in ordinary Midwest farmland black dirt, or in the desert or places where the Cvil War was fought, where the ground tends to be a lot more mineralized?

Nothing wrong with wanting the "deepest" detector you can afford. But there are a LOT of things that figure into your equation, and will determine how "deep" you'll be able to go.

My Vaquero hits harder and deeper on silver coins than my Tejon does. Both hit super hard on nickels and gold rings.

I've been away from pretty much all the detecting forums for quite some years, but I gotta say, it's good to see that @Monte still around. My eyes usually glaze over when people start discussing technical-scientific stuff, but somehow, he put's it in terms that I can understand in terms of detector vs. detector
