which one AT pro or gold

the AT pro is a little more versatile I believe, and you can use it in water fresh or salt...

Look at the Garrett website and see which features you want. John-Edmonton had a depth comparison chart somewhere on this forum. The AT Gold in All Metal is deeper on gold and the lower conductors, and the design is newer.

I meant to say for the same size 5 x 8 double d coil. I saw one air test on the ATP with the large double d coil. It was something like 14 inches on a 14k ring.

Also on the ATG there is a slight decrease in signal strength on silver. It still goes way deep, but if you are mainly after silver the ATP is probably what you want.

If you like to go back to work a hot area and dig every target, the ATG will work better. But there is more of a learning curve with the ALL Metal mode, knowing which targets sound narrow, and sharp, but faint.

I've been leaning towards the AT Gold because I really like the ability to adjust the threshold. I've been looking into getting a new detector and my friend has the AT Pro. It's nice, but neither one of us are real crazy about the silent search.
