Which of the $1.00 Kellyco MDs would you pick?

I have decided to buy a metal detector that qualifies for the Buy one detector get another for $1.00 from www.kellycodetectors.com. Which of the $1 buck detectors would you select to keep around the house for visitors to play with or as a stocking stuffer for a nephew or niece?

I was just about to post the same question.

I just read the fine print and realized my first thought of getting any other detector for $1 had been dashed.
If anyone has an opinion on these "free" detectors I'd enjoy hearing your thoughts on what the "best" option would be.
I just don't understand why the MSRP for these detectors range from $1000.00 - $70.00
I am not familiar with any of the detectors listed so any additional feedback from others would be helpful.
My intended use for the detector would be to likely loan it out to anyone new to metal detecting. It need not be a "beginers" machine as I'd be happy to show them the controls and set it up for them. I just want to have them use something that would not drive them crazy by constantly beeping or being overly excited to beep for iron and other "trash".

Free detector options are:
Cobra Beach Magnet: A rather silly looking decal, but seems resistant to water.

Cobra Beach Wader: Looks very similiar to the Beach Magnet above. Splash proof... It would seem that the Beach Magnet is the superior version.

Viper Trident Hybrid: I've seen a few guys at the beach with these over the years. They were never very friendly, but the detector likely had little to do with that.

MP5 Pro with 10" coil: Have never heard of these detectors.

Titan 2000 with an 8" coil: Have never heard of these detectors.

Garrett Predator 1: Wow, one knob. This looks like an easy unit to loan out.

Titan 1000 with 10" coil: Depth gauge and target ID display. Seems reasonable.

Pioneer 505 with an 8" coil: Has taget ID

Titan 1000 with 8" coil: Depth gauge and target ID display. Seems reasonable.

Bounty Hunter Tracker IV: Too bad it is a "Kids model" I like the analog meter detectors.

Bounty Hunter Quick Silver: Blah, Kids only.

Bounty Hunter Tracker II: Blah, Kids only.

Bounty Hunter Fast Tracker: Blah, Kids only.

Bounty Hunter VLF Treasure Detector: Why am I thinking of buying a $1000.00 detector when this one is the "ultimate treasure detector"?

Bounty Hunter Gold Digger: No comment.

Bounty Hunter Tracker JR.: No comment

I've actually used a few of those:). Not the made in China Cobra's, Viper or MP 5 but have used the Radio Shack versions of the Bounty Hunter made Titan 1000 and 2000, Pioneer 505, Tracker IV, Fast Tracker and a Garrett Ace/Predator 150. The Pioneer 505 isn't a bad detector, it has some nice features plus it has a 5 year warranty. The BH Pioneer models were sold by the larger Walmart stores in this area, a couple of guys I know bought 505's and I tried one that belonged to one of them briefly. It worked well, no problems getting dimes and pennies at 5 to 6 inches running in notch mode in my mild ground, and air tested them a couple of inches farther. Actually, the Tracker IV and Fast Tracker, which is a Tracker IV without the intensity meter, aren't bad detectors either, especially at a dollar a pop, but I were falling for, errr , I mean taking advantage of:), the buy one get one for a dollar promotion I would choose the Pioneer 505 without hesitation.

I would try the Pioneer 505. I tried one recently and I checked three signals from my Explorer 11. All three were 5 inches or so deep and the Pioneer correctly ID'd them with repeatable signals. Two were clad quarters and they hit hard. I have no doubt that this detector could get a quarter at 7 to 8 inches. R.L.

With luck all of the options are still in stock. I placed an order tonight for a Minelab Excalibur II and selected the Pioneer 505 as my "free" detector.
I read a bunch of the reviews on the Kellyco site and the 505 had a pretty good crowd that liked using it.
I have a White's 6000 XL Pro, so I don't imagine the 505 will become a favorite machine to grab, but I will give it a good workout and learn it well enough so I can set it up as a loaner machine when I have anyone that wants to go digging with me.

Thanks for your input!

Does Kellyco still add those ridiculuos shipping charges? I was going to order a sniper coil from them, but other places ship them without exorbitant shipping charges.

Most of our search coils and accessories are $9.95 total for 1 - 3 items in our online shopping cart, unless it is oversized. If you run across a rogue one that we missed coding correctly out of the 1000's of accessories please let us know.

By all means, if you have issues with the shipping charges, let one of us at Kellyco know and I am sure we can work it out after all our goal is to make happy treasure hunters all around the world.
