I cant afford a dedicated beach machine at the moment,so making do with a 6 year old XS Explorer. Can anyone recommend a suitable replacement coil.from the standard one.(I only detect on the beach). Also as anyone got a good beach programme.

I am using the 12.5 inch EXcelerator coil from Kellyco on my Sovereign GT. It has preformed unbelievably deep in the wet and dry sand. Very sensitive to small gold and very reasonably priced. I have been pleased with it my hunting partner just ordered the new 10X12 Excelerator Butterfly coil. We will compare them this week.

The 15x12 SEF coil would cover much ground.Depending on how good a shape you're in you'll probably need a swingy thing for that one for long periods of hunting.

A good beach program for the explorer would be No disc and use ferrous tones. You'll be digging anything that sounds good. I use this setup on land too, very powerful. but on the beach with less trash in theory it makes even better sense.
