Which machine to upgrade too?

I recently purchased a Cibola just to see what the Tesoro brand would be
like. Quite frankly, I was really surprised how well it performs and it was
refreshing to swing a light weight machine for a change.

Now .... I am thinking of selling my Cibola and getting another
Tesoro that may have a few more options.

I'm strictly interested in jewelry hunting. With this in mind ....
which machine would you go with?

I like the idea of the Golden U Max since I don't need to worry
about Ground Balancing and the 4 tones etc...

Will the Golden U Max be just as good as the V for jewelry?

I welcome your comments!

I have been using the Deleon since it came out and after 60 rings more than half of them gold, many medals, pendants, silver chains and other goodies I know if you are after jewelry it will produce!

You might tell him what your system is using the Deleon. I found it quite interesting.

Jewelry? (Golden for gold). Has adjustable notch to knock out most tabs and still get ladies gold rings. But Notch will not get mens gold rings or class rings, they are in the same range as pulltabs and will be knocked out with the tabs. When using Notch it helps to turn down the Threshold. If Threshold is set high many tabs will still beep, especially the deep ones. I love the Golden for the tones and for the Notch system. The Cortes has a Notch system, its not adjustable and so you will dig up broken off beaver tails and some tabs. The adjustable Notch on the Golden can be adjusted to eliminate those beaver tails and also eliminate a bigger variety of tabs than the Cortes can.

If gold come in at the same area as pull - tabs and you use notch ....
then you loose the rings. How do you know where to notch it in the right
area?

I know its a dumb question but I guess you just have to put some rings
and tabs on the ground and notch accordingly?

Thanks!

Someone here was intentionally looking for Foil on the Deleon to get Rings. You could do the same on a Cortes. I also have a Golden Saber which when using Notch lets you Accept or Reject. You can actually tune the Ring in then only find those signals.

Notch is like this > IRON + FOIL + LADIES GOLD RINGS (TABS OUT) + PENNIES + DIMES + QUARTERS.

Or you can use the regular Disc Mode at the same time you are using Notch like this > (IRON OUT) FOIL + LADIES GOLD RINGS (TABS OUT) + PENNIES+ DIMES + QUARTERS.

The regular Disc knob can be turned up to FOIL to eliminate IRON and FOIL, but FOIL could be where some ladies gold rings and gold chains are.

If the regular Disc knob is turned up too high it will run into the Notch.

Your comment is interesting.

How can you justify that? or why would that be?

I welcome all responses.
I presume you were talking about my post on the Compadre. It doesn't have the high-gain, low-noise circuitry which allows it to find the finest of gold chains. It's ED-180 is a TRUE ED-180 that more truly approximates true all-metal, while the other ED-180's still have some iron mineral rejection in them. Now I understand this as per Monte, but I have personally tested and proved it to myself. I, for instance, a few months ago, found a small gold chain WHILE discriminating paperclips and small nails. I took it home, and NO metal detector I had would pick it up in a/m mode, with the exception of a 1960's Garrett BFO. Now I also have to agree as one poster rebutted me that no one goes around looking for fine gold chains-and that the money is in heavier gold and thus any Tesoro would work for larger than fine gold. It's just the design of the circuitry. And it has nothing to do with the small coil. So I've not yet found anything to compare it to. But I feel that if there were a fine gold ring, earring, etc. that I would find it and when I use my other detectors, there's always a gnawing feeling that I may be missing gold and in several field tests that has been true. I want to be clear that on larger gold items, they're about the same and most will not even worry about missing a fine gold chain or teeny ring.
