Which machine has better depth on 18 k 22 k Gold

Does anybody know what beach/water machine has better depth on 18k 22k gold rings 10 k is much easier to pick up since its only 41 percent gold the rest being copper , silver, nickel. thanks Jerry

id say the Goldquest SS V.2 or the Garrett Infinium LS might just be the best, but at a price.the cost is high and as with any PI just be willing to dig 100's of bobby pins/nails/barrets/bottle caps and other junk @ 24"deep! now if ya want to go 12/15" deep and dig no junk, the Excal or Sovereign is the way to go.IMHO.

settle down boys :punch:
here"s my take on it i"v dug rings that range from 9k to 24k & i really don't see much difference in depth due to k, if anything gold on salt water beaches has a better signal than most metals as it doesn't corrode.
as for not finding as many 18k-22k rings 1st less people wear higher k gold as its more expensive to buy & when they buy it people tend to look after it a bit better which mean less is lost
2nd usually higher K rings are smaller with stones in em there for have less surface area for the detector to pick up which decreases detectable depth.
so instead of asking for more depth you may wish to ask for smaller targets at the same depth that your finding lower K targets at.
the first question is are you hunting in fresh water or salt if salt get a PI you"ll dig smaller targets deeper & you"ll dig a lot more junk
if in fresh get a detector with a higher frequency like a tiger shark.
hope this helps

This test really has nothing to do with his question.

The testing in that link you posted refered to a particular beach in a certain part of the country. It's a area that has real special mineralization problems unlike anywhere else. Unless your hunting the same beach they were referencing, the information would be useless.

Thanks Mr Bill,
Please Forgive me for not knowing who you are.But from your http://www.surfscanner.com it looks like somebody important . I have been away from detecting for about 10 years. But the bug is back full force . What would you recommend for beach and water detecting .I live on the east coast in Virginia. but hunt most of the time at Yorktown and Jamestown beach. VA beach is about 50 miles one way from my house so don't have the time to go there very often.I work 3rd shift. Seams time you get off its time to go right back again. Anyway the two rivers I hunt don't have much wave action so sand piles up most of the time. so I need depth in detection but at 52 I don't think I can deal with an PI you know dig all those deep holes not all gold rings or silver coins. there is a lot of iron in Yorktown beach from the ships that have gone down 1781 I think. SO any help from you would be so great I cant thank you enough.. P.S the reason I asked about 14k 18 k 22 k .We have worked these beaches a lot in the 80,s 90,s most rings that were found 10k some 14 k bands Never never any 18 K for myself or my friend Gary. Back then I was using White's 5000d converted long shift hand made and then moved up to 1280X seams both machine had about a 6 inch depth range on mans 10 k H.S ring. I would be so thankful for any help you can give. thanks Jerry

Its also relative to where you are, 90% of the gold people lose here in Spain is 18k(although some tests as 16K)

On a beach a Tejon, X5 or MXT will hit gold really well. In the water, especially salt water the excal or chest mounted Sov works well.

Also a purer gold can hit really well. Ive got a 22k ring that I found that hits as a zinc penny. Dug it in wet sand at the ocean and it was quite deep.
Mass and how the ring is positioned in the ground play a part also.

Not to mention the units tested are from early-mid 90's............ "Where's the BHID?" lol.
