Which is the best Excalibur? ....

Which of all the Excalibur's made do you think was the best?

Is the new Excalibur II 1800 up to snuff?

U mean 800? If so they stopped making them.....not enought sales id say just like the Exp and Sov. Any of the models will fid gold. Yes they do very even in the same models. I personally prefer the blues.... smoother, good depth, and ive had fewer to almos no repairs. Ability is also operator dependant.

Dew is 100% correct, lack of sales is why they dropped the Sovereign GT, Excal II 800, Explorer series and so on...Once sales fall below a certain point they cease production of them just like car manufacturers do....Excals sales are still very high so they will be producing them for years to come..

Maybe its a nitch .... but for salt water there arent a lot of choice that operate properly. Dry sand hunting.... well ther u have a lot of choices and a good many are better than the water machines. Even people who now have the CTX still have an Excal as backup. Dont care what kind of salt water machine u have... save some money because u will have repairs if u use it.

Yes,many of the old posters swore the horseshoe coil model was the best of all or at least that seemed to be the general concensus. .. many claim the excal 1000 blue tube is better than the excal 2... i dont think there was ever a bad excal model so any excal that doesnt need repairs is a good one...

I have to agree Robo........ that really changes the Xcal. As far as the horseshoe ....... the problem with them seemed to be they got out of tune. Unless you know someone who can work on a sword and get parts........ then you have two choices the blue or Xcal II.

One that is taken care of. I have a new Excalibur w/ mods that just made my Sovereign GT obsolete. Sold the GT and I don't plan on looking back. I have had older blue Excals and I never noticed them being any better except the headphones.

I have a few modded and stock. I just got this one back from Kellyco. I just brought it over for the pin point mod. It had already been modded for the Orca headphones and the Sunray 12" coil.

Both Barry and Dave worked on this one. I think that makes it special.
