Which is the best detector out there

Asking which is the best detector out there, is like asking which is the best car out there? I own an ACE 250 and a GTP 1350 and they both are 1. Easy to learn to use and 2. Find a lot of goody's for me. I highly recommend either one to my friends who ask. However if I had bought the ACE 250 first, I would more than likely not own the 1350. The ACE will find just as much and at just over $200.00 is a real bargain.

What might be best for one person for the type of hunting, conditions/location, and understanding the machine might not be the best for another.
Then I hunt different grounds in my area and one machine might do me better in one area, another machine for another area. Same with the type of hunting I do.
Take one machine, and one person may understand it differently than another person and can get different results.
IMO one who understands a so and so machine can do well, while another who doesn't understand a top dog machine may not understand the layers of menu's, proper setup and use.
That's the beauty of having a variety of machines available. Some prefer a little car, other's a big truck. I'm satisfied with the usual plain ol cup of coffee - the wife has to pour in a few extra features for hers.
I swing a variety of machines to find my goods - she usually takes them from me (no machine required) - same results

Philosophically Speaking - The one in your hand (they all work well-it's up to you to learn it!)

Technically Speaking - The GTI 2500 the deepest, most bells & whistles Plus Most $

Hydrology Speaking - The Infinium...BEEPS on everything, the deepest. But has a long learning curve. Not for newbies :nono:

Practicability Speaking - The "ACE" 250...great entry level machine with high end bells and whistles and proven itself many times over

Pick one and learn it, I still think it's the guy running the machine that dictates what is found. I've hunted with quite a few guys in my relatively short time at detecting, the machines are a tool but regardless of which machine is used, the same guys always dig the "gooders". You should see the chest full of silver and gold that my ACE 150 has found........

I have a GTA1000 and while still learning how to use it, I do think it is a great machine considering how old it is.
My last machine did not have pinpoint. I think you should look at machines that pinpoint and ones that can tell
you what they found and depth.
Good luck and have fun in your search for the machine that fits your needs.

actually i believe its the one that you can say that you know better than you know yourself...so what ever you get learn it and use it to your advantage:beers:

Hummmmm. So many detectors out there and so little time!
I guess the thing to do is not get spooked by every new device
companies are adding to their macines. "Gee, this one has imaging and that one doesn't. This one
has XYZ on it and the others don't."
The fact remains that the old timers have beed detecting
with many of the the old AND new machines for years and they are always making great finds.
And yes, even BOUNTY HUNTER that has taken so much abuse over the years finds some great
stuff.

I think the thing to do is follow the forums and see whats out there;listen to whats going on with
regards to defects. If there are a large number of people having problems with a particular machine, shy clear of it.
No reason to invest in a machine that seems to be getting returned for repairs all the time. You'll
hear about it on the forums.

Go with the ones that MDers are jumping up and down about. Follow them for awhile and check your bank account
to see if it's affordable for you. No point in buying a six or eight hundred dollar machine if its going to break
your bank account, especially when there are $200 to $300 machines out there that can do most
of what the expensive machines will do.

Tesoro has had a geat deal of success and so has Garrett (especially the Ace 250 ). Whites MXT had had great
success as well. I have both machines and while I use the MXT most often I sometimes switch to the Ace just because
it has the sniper coil and it comes in VERY handy at times. The ace is lighter but I get better depth with the MXT.
I've gone over baseball diamonds with the MXT after useing the Ace and cleaned up a second time. Maybe I should have used the MXT to begin with?

SOmeone else has already mentioned it: Just pick a machine and use it. Get to know it inside and out.
If you have a few dollars extra and can aford another machine, go for it. Compare the two. Like the man says, "It's the
operator of the machine as much as it is the kind of machine your useing."
