i would like anyones opion on which is a better detecter, the pioneer 505,or the discovery 3300.any input is much apprecited

3300 better because it has a few more features such as ground balance and notch and zap, i just bought one and i love it its always on the $$$$$$. don't know much about the 505 but i paid 219.00 for it and it usually runs retail of 349.00. got it from ebay through pay pal and am very pleased. i really would like a minelab but moneys a little funny.

also heres a little bit of advice to you and others though experience if you don't have a pinpointer i highly recommend garrett pro pointer ,which is my next purchase, i recently bought a bounty hunter regular pinpointer it does the job but for 34.00 you get what you pay for.Garretts pinpointer goes deeper and is stronger for 149.00 i will have it next.

3300 is better but the 505 is a good introductory machine into the hobby.
And garret pro pointer is the best out there
