Which is better MXT 3000, or Pro?

Hi,

Thank you to all who gave me ideas and thoughts.

I'm new as you must be able to tell by now.

I've been reading and researching the MXT, plus the 300 and Pro. With all material available it brings confusion. If possible, I would appreciate input on which one might be best from those who know the machines. I'm leaning towards the Pro?

The plan is still for the same use, beach and mountains. I'm planning on using all three mods.

I'll be putting in the order on Wednesday (7/14/2010) giving me enough time to hopefully read all input and suggestions from the users here.

I'm glad I found this forum with all the years of experience that's accumulated and is made available to the new people.

Again, thank you all your help in advance.

Cordially,
Michael

One might not be any better than the other, just different with more features. Since the MXT 300 has been discontinued in favor of the MXT Pro, I would suggest getting the lastest model unless you are getting a great price break on the MXT 300.

I would say .....get the new model.

That way if you ever decide to sell it you might get better resell value out of it.

Besides, the new features are real nice!!

I find the big coil on the the 300 is a bit noisy on the beach(salt water):ausflag: and a bit clumsy in the mountain it's more suited to open fields ect
The other two come with the the same coil,so as I always say "if you are going to be a bear you might as well be a grizzly" Go the pro!! and grab a DD coil to go with it

cheers Ronnie

P.S I'm interested to know how the grab button go's on the beach wet to dry sand

I really like my X-70 and I wanted to also buy an MXT. I am glad I held off buying an MXT because after many years Whites has finally updated the MXT with some new internal electronic features and called it the new PRO model and this is better to have. Get the PRO model for sure unless you get a second-hand regular MXT at about half the price if you are on a budget, or your wife will get mad. :hot::rofl:

Just took out my new MXT Pro yesterday for a few hrs with the 6X10DD. The new tones are nice and it took me a while to get used to; especially if you are in a trashy area.... it will talk alot to you. Found a good bit of clad in a short amount of time. No Silver  but i'm sure its coming soon. I did find a 1928 NY Knights of Columbus pendant at about 4". VDI & readout showed it as a penny. How it got next to a plantation home in Southern LA is another story i'm not sure. ?? Also, kinda unusual, I pulled out 8 Jeffersons from one hole at about 4-5". VDI 18 on everyone. I checked the hole with my SunRay pinpointer after removing the first nickle and they just kept on coming. Nothing old, just lots of clad. Overall, I like the new PRO... it performs exactly like the old MXT but has a few new bells and whistles. Gonna get better with time. CCH
