I'd say use both. Read this....

CZ owners - Salt training 101

I am still doing some testing, but the fact that smaller gold can have the same conductivity as salt water and ground balancing out the salt water effects the detectors ability to sniff out small gold is an eye opener. Good answer on using both. I do know PI's do excel in certain areas, but if you are hunting an iron ridden or trashy beach, they are LOTS of work and a discriminating VLF can be a much better solution.

But if you want maximum depth and dig ALL metal targets, the PI is the machine to use on the beach.

What State do you hunt in? Beach, fresh, salt water, lake, Bay? What coils are on your Infinium and the CZ? Each is good at different places, I have both..the Ls is good for the calm waters of the gulf with the 10x14 mono coil, I thought it would be good for the bay, but I found out the place I had planned on hunting had lots of Iron...so I went with the CZ because most of the Hunters of the Chesapeake Bay use the CZ's and I am finding it works better then the Ls & the Excals here in the Bay. The Excals seem to do the best in the alantic waters. With this, where you hunt should be the deciding factor on which you choice................

ty everyone. i actually scuba dive and i am looking for something that is a little more versatile for diving. i have notice that with he cz21 the shaft has been made for diving that would help. how deep can you find your finds.. so what i am trying to figure out is it worth trading of my infinium for the cz21 ty the zc21 only has 6 yrs use so it is brand new.. ty

My 2 cents here. Get the infinium and send your cz21 out for service. Keep them both. The cz21 is made for for diving also. If your ever in a trashy area your gonna need it.

I wouldn't just trade in cz for the infinium. Having both makes much more sense especially for some one who scuba dives. Ever go diving for stuff yet...my buddy and I might give it a try in a few spots in future.

ya i use to have a stingray 2 and found lots of stuff diving that is why i upgraded to infinium. just wanted to make a difference and go a little deeper for my finds.

Better ??
Depends on what you need it for.
Detectors are tools and there is no one tool that is best for all jobs.
So ... it depends on what you think "better" is.

Depth ... the Infinium will kick the CZ-21 all over the beach on this one dry or wet sand the Garrett will detect deeper and smaller targets than the CZ-21
Discrimination ... The CZ-21 is the winner here ... the Infinium has none.
Salt water ... the Infinium will be more stable in salt water.
Fresh water ... unless you collect bobby pins you will like the CZ-21 more.
Dry beach sand ... here is a toss up ... the Infinium will detect deeper ... but you dont need all that depth here.
Quality of construction ... both about the same ... very good.
Service ... both are American made and backed by a very good service department.

Here is a plan ... detect the area with the CZ-21 then go back and see what it missed using the infinium.

As you said for diving........The Infinium!
The deeper water has less trash and you'd want to dig for most signals in that environment.

While limited, there's some disc abilities with the Infinium using the hi/low signals, reverse disc, and iron check functions.
This in combo with some ear training (learning the tones) will have you digging less junk than without it.

While true that no PI detector will come close to a good vlfs disc abilities, the Infinium's
system does help some and IMHO is better than other PIs that have none.

I hunt with both VLF & PI detectors for the best results.

I too am in B.C., and built my own shaft for the excal..When I dive, which I do on a regular basis, I use the diving format on the excal.. I have tried a lot of different shafts , [this must be the mark 4 or 5 model :):] But as yet, I have not found a better.
