Which HF coil to get????

Germs73

New member
I'm looking to buy one of the new HF coils...but not sure which to get...I'm leaning forward the elliptical coil but is there a big difference between the 2?....does one get better depth?...I'm mostly interested in finding coins and relics...any help will be appreciated...thx

I have both HF coils, both are great and have strengths as well as weaknesses.

If I had to select only one, say for open areas yet detect area's with thick iron I would go with the 9" HF. Mainly because of depth and coverage, the 9" HF coil is still terrific for trashy areas with amazing separation.

Elliptical HF coil is a great choice, but the 9" gets the coverage yet still has remarkable separation close to the elliptical.

Good luck,
Paul

Thanks for the info... I also would like to purchase one of the HF coils but I had heard that the elliptical didn 't get the depth that the 9" got.

I realize your soil is vastly different from where I live in Michigan, but what kind of depth do you get with the 9" HF in your soil?

Do you use it for gold nuggets or coins or both?

Tony

I have the elliptical HF coil.

Been playing with it for couple days.

Seems deep enough in my ground.
Handles my ground (medium minerlization) extremely well.

Did run the round HF coil a few weeks back, but not enough time to give worthy opinion.

This elliptical baby separates well.
Use of the higher freqs, will increase separation in iron when looking for nonferrous.

Hello Tony,

Depending on soil conditions, getting between 6" to 10" inches with the 9" HF coil. I'm more of a relic hunter, do search for coins though when after gold jewelry at parks and school grounds as this type of hunting is very relaxing.

Although I live near nugget territory, always choose relic hunting over nugget's relics and Gold rush era coins are easier to find.

Have a new site to hunt soon, Ghost town from mid 1860's. Just found it, will share finds if they surface. The town was buried from the 1867 flood, piece's of the puzzle finally came together. Took me several year's to find it, very excited.

Have a good weekend Tony, enjoy reading your post.

Little more info on HF elliptical.
Folks this coil is for real.

Does anyone think they could have a coin at a mere 2" deep in carpet of nails. And you haven't detected yet?
Well, this elliptical coil is super duper separator in nails.

Jaw dropping experiences so far with what I have seen.

Been focused so far on using 28.8 kHz.
At reactvity level 3,, put this thing in a nail pit in full tones 0 disc and listen.

You think you heard the different nails using LF coils on Deus?
I thought I had, enter HF elliptical..

Real slicer and dicer in nails.
Funny thing is nonferrous pops through like it is solo sitting in these sites with no nails or iron around.
Gotta see to believe.
I am a believer.
