Hay Gunnar,I believe the Killer B,s have a lifetime warranty . Send them back or just call who you got them from. Good Luck Dean

I have used the SunRay's for 6 years or close to it with no problems, for what that is worth...........

I've had good luck with Gray Ghost heaphones. One speaker came loose in the earpiece and they repaired it free - the Gray Ghost NDTs and Nugget Buster NDTs come with an extra plug in cord although I;ve yet to need them.

My Rats seem to have high quality replaceable cord.
Sunray Gold Pro - no problems
Vision Spectra Wireless - No cord = no snags yet:blink:

The ones I have found with the best cord on them is the Troy Pros, built better, bigger cable and they coil right back instead of getting streched out like most do. The only problem is finding a set of them as they have been back ordered for about a year now. If anyone has a nice set of them I would be interested in them as for my E-Trac they give the best volume too for my bad hearing.
Now another set is the Gray Ghost NDT as the cable is replaceable in the field if you carry the extra cable in you car and easy to change. I think the biggest problem with any headphones is the cable going bad because of the rough use we give them. I never had a problem with any of the Gray Ghost, the Troy Pro or the Sun Ray Pro golds with bad cables yet.

I only use top quality metal detectors, built to be durable, and top quality headphones to match.

The Troy Custom headphones, as stated, have about the strongest coiled cable and are very durable. I like them, but I like my Killer B Wasp and SunRay Pro Gold headphones better. These headphones are essentially the same (for good reason) and I have been using them for over half a dozen years without a problem.

Note, however, that I pamper my equipment and treat it as a sensitive electronic component ought to be treated..

in your case, I have now idea how you treat your headphones, but I do note that you said they were 2 years old. If you paid $80 you might have been a second (or third or fourth or ??) owner so there's no way to know how they were treated before you acquired them,.

Personally, I'll stick with my SunRay and KillerB headphones.

Since the cord shorting out is the #1 headphone problem, the detachable (and therefore easily replaceable) cord on the Ratphones makes a lot of sense.
